If simply down a slope, then the hollow one will take more time to accelerate, which will offset the extra inertia as it slows down! Floating won't work, because they will have exactly the same density (weight by volume). I suppose that you could heat them both up, and then monitor the rate of reduction in temperature, but that will depend on the specific heat capacity of whatever makes up each sphere. How about squeezing each one, and then noting which one deforms (or rather dents) first? mb |
