Naughty windows also creates hidden files that you cannot see from Windows

they are at least some of the following -

c:WINDOWSCookiesindex.dat
c:WINDOWSHistoryHistory.IE5index.dat
c:WINDOWSHistoryHistory.IE5MSHist01200107132001071 4index.dat
c:WINDOWSTemporary Internet FilesContent.IE5index.dat
c:WINDOWSTemporary Internet FilesContent.IE5*.*
c:WINDOWSHistoryHistory.IE5*.*
c:WINDOWSHistoryHistory.IE5MSHist01200107132001071 4*.*
c:WINDOWSCookies*.*

you can hunt them down from a DOS window and view them but you need to boot in MSDOS mode to delete them.

This is all as on my PC which is Windows 95 / IE5 but I expect other versions have similar arrangements.

there is another thread about this somehere if you search
