Which mag (that well know reviewer of high tec gadgets) says as it isn't back lit you'll stop playing it very soon as you can't see anything on the screen!

I bought one the day they launched in WHS and got £10 off with the first game and a book of vouchers to spend on games over the next 6 months. I was at Heathrow the next day and they were only a few quid cheaper than I got mine for (£70).
I got Tony Hawk's 2 and F-Zero. Both games are very good. The skateboarding game is very similar to the PS game but a lot easier. The F-Zero is quite a steep learning curve and I am somewhere near the bottom at the moment. Hardware: screen size is good, graphics and colours are amazing for a handheld, only takes 2 AA batteries with 15hours life. However, the screen is not backlit and inside in the daytime is very dim. You really need to use under a lamp or outside. It works well on a plane because of the overhead lamps. I found that the detail in Tony Hawks is difficult to make out indoors in normal daylight. There are plug in lights like the old GB had but I have not tried these. Hope this helps Sean |
Cheers, probably not best for beach use then.... http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

Sheesh, even the Sega GameGear was backlit..
The Sega Gamegear may have been backlit but it took 6 AA batteries and they only lasted 1-2 hours. Gameboy advance takes 2 AA batteries and they last 15-20 Hours. Screen quality is excellent outside and really good indoors if you have the light behind you. |
Good, so where can I get them cheapest then?
Any good online sites? Just found this: |
This is true, but technology has moved on lots since then..(some 8 years ago) After all, you can get those wormlights for the Gameboy that runs off the same powersupply as the Gameboy and hardly drains the battery. I'm quite sure they could have added a backlight, and let the user decide if they wanted it on or not. |
They are up for £79.99, with games for £29.99 at
|
I just payed £109 from toysrus for the Gameboy Advance complete with Super Mario Advance and a carry case.
