can someone please tell me a bit about the offset of a wheel, i ask because i was going to buy 19s, now i've done some homework (with the help off people from scoobynet, many thanks to them :)) if i get 7.5 x 19s with 215-35-19 tyres they should fit without modding but the offset is 42 or 45mm now from what i've read the offset on scoobys (98 model) is 52mm will these wheels fit as i really do want them, they are the new k2s from team dynamics and i think would look great on me scooby, please help.

Simply, offset is the relationship between the wheel centre (looking at it from inner rim to outer rim), and the part that bolts on the hub. If the bolting flange is exactly equidistant to the inner and outer rim, there is zero offset. A 52mm offset wheel has the back of the wheel bolting flange offset 52mm from the wheel centre line.

Offset determines physical wheel fit (clearance to brakes/suspension struts/bodywork) and also has an effect on geometry (track/steering feel).

At 42mm, they will not fit without rubbing. At 45mm, they might just fit if you remove the rubber protective strip on the rear arches, and have the rear arches folded in by a body shop. Even then, they might still rub under heavy load.

Ideally I suppose you are looking for something like a 48 - 55mm offset to fit correctly. The default offset on your car is 55mm as standard. An identical wheel in terms of width with a 45mm offset would sit 10mm further out (ie close to the wheel arches).
