Hi Guys

Billing JAE link

Yet again it seems that we have little Subaru representation at the Billing jap car show in July. Last year every other make was represented apart from Subaru though hundreds of Scoobs could be seen scowling in the car parks. Impreza Scooby city is the only area and even the Scottish street racers have a bigger area !

Clubs Attending !

So any volunteers to change this ????

Anyway that Scoobynet or the SIDC can get involved and show the Impreza following ????

Cheers

Neal

I'm pretty new here and I'm not at all sure who runs what! I certainly wouldn't want to tread on anyones toes but I used to / still do a lot of organising for the Saxo Sports Club so I'd be happy to help out if it's any help!

DaveJones 18 February 2003 11:47 AM

If there's gonna be scoobs there who ever runs this joint needs to have a look here!!!!

I don't think its ever been scoobless, but its certainly not everyone's cup of tea.

The aftermath always seems to be people complaining (quite rightly) that there isn't actually anything organised other than somewhere to park your car.

Compare this to Trax or Japfest and it looks like a pretty dull day out.

I'm all for helping someone organise a presence, but having been there, I wouldn't rush back if the format hasn't changed.

Vinnie Mac 18 February 2003 06:40 PM

have a look at F2, Scoobycity (east anglian scoob club) we will be there with some nice scoobs m8

john b 18 February 2003 07:25 PM

i agree with pete (5 of your english pounds to park your car )and look at crap stalls selling wizzo polish !!!!! no thanks .
good firework display though .

JonGould 18 February 2003 08:43 PM

i would be up for that, i love these shows...

it aint about going for the stands or anything, the best bit is meeting fellow enthusiasts and having a good laugh, usually a big piss up over night and a few badly cooked BBQ's.

Then its a full day washing, polishing and admiring. get to learn stuff from each other, put faces to names e.t.c.

well worth it!

scoobycar60 18 February 2003 08:44 PM

Pete's said it all really.
Went last year, expensive car park really, some nice cars to look at but nothing much happening, a few stands selling bits and bobs generally chaos though, worth a look if your local and its fine weather, but I wouldn't bother again myself unless they are offering more to see and do this year.

How can you say its over priced!!

£5 to go to camp site 500 yards from a huge sewer (that is what you can smell as you go in) the local tip and the travellers site  where only last year several people were shot!

Its a sh1t pit, most people in Northampton stay well away! I just have to laught at people who actaully own a caravan there?? I mean why??? In the middle of the country?? Whats wrong with the lake district or near the sea??

.....nope, these people want to stay next to the tip, gypsy site, and sewers.

Did I mention the massive housing estate just next to it, that appears rather popular with the old bill?

scooby_si 18 February 2003 10:12 PM

But on the subject of the actual car event rather than surrounding area last year was enjoyable from a check out the other car point of view but it was blatent that subaru were only none organised crew as it were.
Not after huge sound systems or even dancing girls (well actually.......;)) but an area of pure scoobness wood b appreciated i believe :D

Thunder77 18 February 2003 11:24 PM

Some very valid points there davyboy. Although the nearby houtsing estate supposed to have been improved?? Not the best of places and everybody in Northants wonders why ppl flock there. Went JAE last year and quite rightly apart from nice cars to look at :) and probably the hottest day of the year there wasnt much to do for five of your earth pounds.

If you want to park your car in a dodgy housing estate you can do it anywhere. Thats not the issue, you dont have to stay there the night. If a stand was sorted one group could attend the Sat and another on the Sun. Makes sense.

What was missing from last years show was a Impreza stand, where like minded enthusiast could get together and take the piss out of the MR2 owners club (tell them their Mrs car is nice but what do they drive ;) ).

£5 a car for is not excessive for a day out Mr Pikey you be lucky to get 2 pints of beer for that price. Motor show now that takes the piss £20+ each to get in and £8 to park your car.
Billing is one of the biggest Jap car shows in England be a shame to miss it.

Cheers

Neal

NM

I went last year, parked on/near the Grasshopper Pro Sport area, I thought it was great day, caught up with a few people from oop north and saw some mad cars. Still grin when I think about the Micra club stand - although to be fair to them, some of the cars had obviously had some very professional work done on them.

I'll be attending this year hopefully :)

Alex

davyboy 19 February 2003 08:53 AM

Just making you all aware ;)

I went the last couple of years and I must admit its not a bad way to spend an hour or 2......apart from the sunburn.

M0NEY 19 February 2003 09:02 AM

Ill be with Scoobycity - F2 :D

davyboy 19 February 2003 09:03 AM

NM 19 February 2003 09:07 AM

POC 19 February 2003 09:11 AM

Last year was a great event, a small group of us went up, got pi55ed, BBQs, music, good company.... had a great time!

I will def be going this year, just for the pissup :D

davyboy 19 February 2003 09:15 AM

You like dags?

;)

DannyBoyTurbo 19 February 2003 10:29 AM

I'm going with scoobycity. See ya there Money :D

Nicci 19 February 2003 01:28 PM

I hope there is still time to allocate some land to scoobynet. I did find it difficult finding mates last year as they were parked all over the place.

I agree there isn't to much to do. But it is a good excuse to catch up with mates etc. A good reason for a big get together.
There is usually a big drink up at night there. :D

I enjoyed it last year and will be going again (although I will be parking in a booked section (of wives cars Neal))

john b 19 February 2003 02:21 PM

better of spending £5.00 to get into jap fest
lots of things to do and some track action this all can be found at at discounted rate for SIDC members at the shop www.sidc.co.uk
so book now and sod this organised carpark.
www.japfest.co.uk happy hunting !!!!!!!

NM 20 February 2003 10:25 AM

LMAO @ Nicci !

Pete Croney 20 February 2003 11:18 AM

What's the chance of Mikey organising The Big One Two?

If I'm going to spend the day in a field, I would rather it was next to a pub and shared by 200+ Imprezas ;)

scooby_si 20 February 2003 12:13 PM

Pete there's the the northern big one being plotted for later this year ;)
Si

john b 20 February 2003 12:39 PM
