I remember a while bac someone posted a link to a software that gets round a firewall so downloads can take place.

Anyone know this??

If the firewall has been configured properly the you will never get round it.

What sort of Firewall are we taking about?

Megaproxy does the trick for me, but you have to pay for decent service.

Well its for my cousin. He cannot download from FTP's or from MSN messenger. So was wondering if there was a way round it.

Not really. These run on specific ports, which if currently blocked it's tough luck.

Some proxys run web ports on 3128 which is sometimes allowed on some firewalls - but this is no use for FTP.

and to be honest - you have to ask yourself why they block these services in the first place. They are not done to stop you having fun. They are done because for the average joe bloggs user there are some nasty things out there that can be downloaded without you realising. If your cousin is trying to do this at his place of work, then it is likely he will break his company security policy and potentially land himself in a lot of trouble. Also bear in mind that while you may evade the firewall, an intrusion detection system would still pick up the flow of data and flag it as an issue (more and more companies now use these).
