Why is it than whenever someone says 'I saw xxx scooby and i'd like to say hi to whoever it was' the post gets closed right away without the mystery owner getting chance to say hi back?

I've looked at the members list and it's by no means comprehensive. Do we need a 'say hi' section where these greetings can be posted?

BarryK 02 March 2000 10:31 PM

Yes it does.
And furthermore why do some psotings disappear because of supposed seniority? Or maybe I just forgot the subject?

Neil,

the reasons the messages keep getting closed should be obvious.

a) The chances of the other owner looking at this BBS and reading a "Hi There" type message are quite small (probably about 1 in 20 or less!)

b) If every time someone saw another Impreza they posted a message, then pretty quickly this BBS would be full of nothing else. I for example must see an average of 5 to 8 Impreza Turbos every day, on a 3 mile commute to work and back. 99% of owners don't think "Oh there's another Impreza Turbo, I must log onto the BBS and say Hi to see if they saw me" http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

c) If the other owner did read your message, what would you say ? "Hi there, nice car...." http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

d) There is a web site specifically put together and regularly maintained to avoid this type of post. See

I completley agree with the above postings. It's just i've seen a few recently and thought there'd been a shift in policy or attitude.

I am not "all powerful", I attempt to close down silly threads when I can because I know the moderators. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/cool.gif

It will not surprise you to know that I have been informed by "my friends" that on occasion my own posts are considered "over the top" http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/rolleyes.gif and have been duley culled. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/mad.gif

I am not a computer person.
My dear friend Phillip Dawes is the Scoobynet webmaster and through his generosity we read this BBS, as far as I can work out, each time we access the BBS it hits his bandwidth width which has a cost implication.

QED a silly post gets killed a post alerting people to the dangers of XYZ is alllowed http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif
