What is the difference between the P1 and the 22B. I know that the 22B has more bodykit than the P1 but I dont know performances, BHP, 0-60 etc etc. Just that I currently have an Elise but I am thinking of an EVO 6.

The 22b has wider suspension track, not just a wider bodykit.
|
P1 is 2l, 22b is a 2.2l. P1 is faster :D
|
The 22b has a seamwelded body shell & a 2.2 engine. There's loads more differences...
|
which is more expensive and which is the better car ??? Was the 22B the top of the range at the time ???

see here :) http://www.sidc.co.uk/faq.htm#1.3

22b stuff
more 22b stuff The P1 is a slightly modified STi V5 type R (I think) Not sure on all the changes between the two. |
....so if you are thinking about an EVO6 where is the connection with the P1/22B ? or thinking about those too ? :D

whats the for
|
yep, i'm thinking about the 22B and the P1 too. Thing is the EVO6 does 0-60 in 4.4 secs which the scooby can't match ! Still not sure though, hence the red face
|
also, how much would you be expected to pay for a P1 or 22B, £20,000 for a good one (low miles, full service etc etc) !!! I'm looking at about £20,000 for a good EVO6.
|
dont buy a 22B they are cr4p.
The P1 is the ultimate impreza, everybody knows that. |
You'd also be looking at higher running costs on an EVO so check out everything before diving in!
|
what is so bad about 22B's ????
There is a P1 kicking around where I live. It is lush, 2 door, bluwe with the anthrosite wheels. Totally MINTAS !!! How fast 0-60 ? 4.9 ??? |
Please dont judge a car by 0-60 figures there is so much more to them than that. Plus the figures are so varied with driver technique that there is nothing in it.
If you arent sure which to buy the answer is dont buy a 22B, if you crash it you will have a heart attack at the repair bill which is not the case on the other two choices. and for interest sake, you are looking at Type UK figures which even then arent accurate. Anders' car in standard form apart from a scoobysport back box was tested using datron timing gear and pulled in a few 3.8 0-62s. |

Given that Adam M owns a 22B and his "altering" it quite a bit, i think he can say they are crap if he wishes:D
Personally i would go P1, basically on insurance, repairs and servicing costs. 22B is more of a "collectors" car, not an everyday kind of car IMO. |
About £5 - £10k :D:D:D
|
I was giving a general comment to the 3 successive posts - sounded more like a MAX POWER conversation down the pub more than anything meaningful....
I'm sure Adam is very knowledgable about his 22B and that will make me sleep better at night ;) Now back to the crux of the topic :D Gastro |
At the risk of.........
P1 suspension designed primarily for UK roads EVO 6 suspension designed solely to shake you to bits 22B suspension desinged for japan (apart from type UK) 0-60mph well if you can tell the difference from 4.40 seconds to 4.90 seconds in real world driving then go for it! - oh and don't forget the Mitsi will return 13ish (probably less if you checked) to the gallon to achieve that extra valuable 0.5 second!! 22B overpriced, P1 getting even cheaper by the minute (doh!) Evo 6 is still on the high side imho. I find an Evo 6 to be identical in performance to a P1 -if you ignore pub talk and take account of the extra weight / torque figures of the Evo. Can't comment on 22B cos i have never been in one. Whatever you do is down to personal choice and preference, some will argue the case for one motor all day long but everyone is different (luckily) |
The P1 is the ultimate impreza, everybody knows that. |
See what mess you can make with a comment aimed as a joke, Adam? ;)
|
hehe...it makes for a bit of fun though :)
|
am glad some people knew I was taking the p1ss.
thanks nick!!! the 22b is not cr4p, but anyone discounting a car over another because journalists say there is a 0.1 difference 0-60 needs to rethink their criteria. unless you are in love with the 22B there is no point buying one. the inflated price over a type r is not justified. I wouldnt bother with a P1, personally I think the sti 5 type r is much better value, and also with the exception of abs, is a lot better specced (gearing, centre diff, potential quick rack), and all for 8k less, although P1 prices seem to be dropping. the evo is great, and with the exception of the 22B I prefer it to all road going imprezas. It looks better, is rarer, and more on the edge if you appreciate your driving which I think you do based on having an elise aswell. The evos fuel consumption is abismal and with an effective spirited range of 100 to 150 miles can be very annoying. The engine has less character but far more torque due to longer stroke, this can be addressed on the impreza if you are willing to spend money. The impreza is a naturally better handling car due to longitudinal flat four with equal length driveshafts, but the evo makes up for this with ayc. The steering of the evo does have a sharpness that I cant imagine will ever be matched by the impreza. it makes it v rewarding to drive and drive fast. I think with balls you can drive the impreza as fast. You can also fit a 2.5 :D which isnt quite so easy in the evo. forget the 22b, if you need to ask if it is better than a P1, it isnt for you. in your position, either an evo 6 (in black would be my choice) or for less money an sti 5 type r and pocket the money for modding! |
well said adam :D
|
Go drive them all and make your own mind up.All three are fantastic cars,it all depends on what you want from the car.Having owned both the P1 and Evo6 you will not be dissapointed with either IMO.As for the 22B never owned one so can't comment, but they look the Dogs Bo***cks.

P1Dog,
I would rather have a 22B hand built, seam welded, rare ;) and awesome road going (and presence) car over a P1 (which is just a glorified STi5 type R ;)) Yes parts are expensive but considering that you could have bought one of these cars from japan for around 24k new (40k new in the UK) and that its now aproaching 5 years old (if not there already) and they still pull 30k+ for low mile, good examples (less than 10k depreciation in 5 years is pretty good to me ;)) it shows you what sort of car it is, a speciallists/enthusiasts car ;):D Yes the Type UK did have some differences over the JDM version (different final ratio and different suspension) but damn its the closest thing you will get to a classic rally car for the road :D Tony:D |
MMMmmm i think you should get a 22b as they by far the more collectable and i think the best impreza you can get.
|
Yawn.....
I bet my penis is shorter than yours  |
You really wanna bet? How much? :D
