After talking to DJnormski, I am going to try to clean the boost solenoid and the relevant pipes etc in the hope that my MY98 will regain some of it's lost boost!!. He did tell me quickly how to do this, but I am a dunce, and would rather do it with some instructions I can read. Can someone please post how to do this???
Also, will this be likely to restore my boost (currently peaking @ 13psi and holding 11-12 psi?)???? |
please????

Best bet would be to use the search on "cleaning the boost solenoid"

Had a quick look for you..
This one seems reasonable : http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/threa...ThreadID=95387 Saves me typing it in anyway. You need some brake cleaner.. in an areosol can to do it, the boost solenoid is on the drivers side suspension turret incase you cannot place where the picture in the thread is. JGM :) |
Personnally I just sprayed in lots (it evapourates) and yes into the solenoid directly..
Also if you find the two green connectors under the dash board and plug them together and switch the ignition on (don;t start the engine) the solenoids all pulse so you can clean it easier. I don;t think you can damage it by putting to much in. JGM :) |
Thx for the link - I was searching from 2001 onwards - doh!
I need simpler instructions than that! I.e. how much brake cleaner needs to be sprayed into the pipes, and if brake cleaner should be sprayed directly into the solenoid - also once it has been done, do all of the pipes need to be taken off and flushed to get rid of the cr4p??
