From a Subaru dealer and excluding warranty or insurance claims

I'll start the bidding at £3,567.85 yesterday :p

No complaints though.. excellent job :D

Let's hear some wallet crunching STI engine replacement costs which should top my meagre sum easily... and will make me feel alot better anyway ;)

Cheers
Si

£1,400 !!!!!!!

Riftzone 06 February 2003 10:19 AM

OUCH !

Sipie - were they confident of the cause in the end ?

ColinL 06 February 2003 10:26 AM

SiPie,

Thats a hell of a lot of cash to spend on a Paperweight for your desk !

chockymonster 06 February 2003 10:28 AM

£88 for a full service and cambelt change :-) (including parts!)

SiPie 06 February 2003 10:39 AM

Colin L :p.. want to borrow it to keep all that paperwork on your desk from flying away? ;)

Riftzone

Yup... the report says "shorted HT lead (damaged by guy who was replacing plugs ) caused unburnt fuel to build up in cylinder 2", then boom, melted the piston dragging the bits everywhere..

Just one of these things....and what a delight it is having to run in an 86,000 mile car :(

Hats off to Willie at Nobles, for doing a brilliant job. Feels like a brand new car :D

7 Foot 06 February 2003 10:41 AM

Chockymonster - please explain. Or did you miss a 0 ?

Riftzone 06 February 2003 10:56 AM

i'd be givin the bloke who replaced the plugs a severe thrashing in that case !

SiPie 06 February 2003 11:00 AM

Can't really say much on that one here Riftzone, as he's a scoobynetter, but...................you just never know ;)

ROTFLMAO at that last comment :D

co55ie 06 February 2003 01:12 PM

Not an impreza but my biggest cossie bil was 9.5k for a properly sorted engine and ancillaries. Can anyone beat this ? I am sure they can

SiPie 06 February 2003 01:16 PM

Cossie

Ouch.

Come on peeps, any advance on 9.5k ?

chrisp 06 February 2003 01:19 PM

I took my red MY98 UK turbo in and got a bill for 10K and they had resprayed it blue and all the bits were new and had been replaced ;).

SiPie 06 February 2003 01:21 PM

ChrisP

Bet it came out slower than it was before though ;)

LG John 06 February 2003 01:22 PM

Did you not choose to make that upgrade cossie? Sipie's bill was not by choice

chrisp 06 February 2003 01:22 PM

Only for the next 1000 miles ;) then I had a standard 280PS to play with :D.

SiPie 06 February 2003 01:30 PM

ChrisP

You and me in the same boat them mate.....

The difference is I'm having to run in a car with 86,000 miles on it that I've owned for a year and a half:rolleyes:.... kind of a weird experience if the truth be told

skipjack 06 February 2003 02:24 PM

jimmyRB5PRO

ditto cambelt, service, disks & pads front & rear for £1,100 @ 44K. that's a big difference in charges ...

Road-rash 06 February 2003 02:52 PM

£536.00 45K service cam belt few other bits.

co55ie 06 February 2003 03:01 PM

Yes it was my choice awesome engine though everything balanced lightened shot peened etc and it ran very smooth. The 9.5k was just the engine and direct bits and bobs and incuded a full F1 spec turbo rebuild . The engine should really have been displayed in my front room as it looked more like a work of art.

johnfelstead 06 February 2003 03:23 PM

I paid £3000 for a 998cc Hillman Imp engine rebuild, back in 1988. Does that count?

P.S It reved to 12,000rpm :D LOL

Adam M 06 February 2003 03:24 PM

ask scott davies about his option motorsport bil.

Gmae, set match adam m!

mista weava 06 February 2003 03:38 PM

John Felstead = nutter! :D

ChristianR 06 February 2003 03:50 PM

co55ie 06 February 2003 04:42 PM
