Been looking at a car that has burnt out the wires by having them trapped between the headers and the car..

they have fixed the burnt wires at the front but now..

Electric windows dont work, central locking doesnt work, no engine check light, and all that happens is car turns over..

Where to start??

Maybe finding a wiring loom book? ;)

Whereabouts did the loom get scorched? Trying to figure whereabouts the headers would have hurt it.

Found this site www.ravensblade-impreza.com they have alot of wiring diagrams on the site, look in the technical tab. Hope it helps!

its burnt across the lower front panel Under the radiators..

The car is now stripped with no wings so I can go and trace some wiring...

Got a feeling this ones going to be a cnut.

Not much help David but although the wiring burnt out by the headers a short may have occured elsewhere due to the heat build up in the wires..

Are you sure they've done that bit right? Suspect everything!!

And make sure the earths are good...

David_Wallis 04 February 2003 09:52 PM

yeah I checked it myself..

My sympathies. I can't think of anything but the obvious... I take it you've swapped the relays around, you've found both fuse boxes etc...

I suppose you get signals from the crank and cam sensors?

Do you have a pinout for the ECU? It must be pin compatible with the UK scoob one if you've tested it in your car, so if you don't have the diagram, I may be able to email you one.

Have you tried supplying the ECU with power directly (no solution, but may help indicate the fault?

dont know which pin :(

Just looking in my workshop manual... (for pre 97 cars...)

(B43) pin 12
(B43) pin 13
(B43) pin 15
(B95) pin 12

Should all read greater than 10v.

Ground pins as follows:

(B43) pin 11
(B43) pin 22
(B44) pin 14
(B44) pin 15
(B44) pin 24
(B44) pin 25

B43 is a 22 way connector
B44 is a 28 way connector
B95 is a 12 way connector
B96 is a 16 way connector

HTH!

Ta... what page was that on?

AndrewC 05 February 2003 11:59 AM

David,

I'm a bit confused, if it's an STi3 then it should have a 97/98 ECU surely?

I have an ECU from an STi3 and its the same as a UK one without the immobiliser circuitry.

Andrew...

ok maybe its an sti2... its pre 97.

I didnt pay much attention to the model.. just started checking stuff.

Can't remember the page - found it in the "diagnostics" pdf file. (A really obvious place for it to be )
