Hi, I have seen several post regarding upgrading the induction systems to an aftermarket system such as the K+N System.

Also, seen some posts regarding problems with MAF.

Will I have any problems using a K+N 57 system on a series 2 Jap Import STI?
Will the system give me any noticeable improvments?
Are they hard to fit?
The exhaust is standard at present, but will updated later.

Thanks

Andy,

I'm having the K&N fitted to my MY95 STI RA in a couple of days so I'll let you know if there's any noticable improvements etc...I do have a full SS catless exhaust fitted though!!!

Dom.

OK, thanks Dom

Let me know if you get any problems with the MAF etc.

Don't forget :)

FWIW - the earlier models used a hot-wire MAF - these are much more rubust than the hot-film MAFs udsed in later models where problems have been reported.

IMHO you should have no problems.

Chris

OK thanks, so what are the symptoms of messing up the MAF?

Car can run lean & the Hot Film MAF sensor has been known to break on later models.

I run a blitz induction kit on my STi RA. The hot wire MAF is an awful lot more robust, and seems to have been ok for the last few thousand miles. There have been concerns about engines finding flat spots with the increased airflow, although my Knock Link seems to be as quiet with the induction kit as it is with a panel filter.

RRH, do you run a decatted exhaust, and also have you enclose the induction kit in a box or have you got any heat shield allowing only code air to be used?

Seen a few posts regarding using a sealed box, with a cold air pipe attached, apparently this makes it like ram air.

Full de-cat, and just stuck the blitz where the filter box used to be.
seems to run fine;)

cheers,
simon:D
