Hi all,
My son wants to experiment with a simple web site that he generated in Word. What is the easiest method of getting this site onto the web ? Do we need to purchase a FTP program or are they freely available ? do we need one at all ? I have a freeserve account and a PC running windows 98. Any information helpful as we don't know much about this sort of thing. Cheers. Allan |
I use a demo version of WS_FTP

Hi,
If you have a freeserve account, you should automatically have 15 Meg of webspace allocated to you to use. Can't remeber how to load from Word, but there should be an option to save as a web page. There should also be a Freeserve help file somewhere on the CD to tell you how to fill in the various blanks when uploading pages. In short, you should have all the software you need. |
Thanks guys,
I wondered about the freeserve option as well but couldn't find anything on the web site, I'll check the disk. Cheers Allan |
word has a simple facility and you should also have web wizard which comes with Windows 98se.
Im experimenting myself using Frontage, which is bloody simple providing you go through your ISp and get the password for the web space you got. good luck!! |
Log onto Freeserve, then go into Freeserve Help, then Help again , then select topic on Up Loading Pages, plus freee software available.

Hi guys,
Went for the Freeserve option, using Terrapin available from the site. Looks OK from what I've seen so far. Cheers Allan |
A mate gave me Hotmetal 4 free from a mag and I managed to get my site up!!
Word can't upload and Frontage extensions costs a bomb, even a turd like me can cope with Hotmetal!! what do ya think,Im trying to get sponsors,is it too subtle...... |
