Not sure if this has been discussed; anyone driven one? Saw one on a repeat of Top Gear last night, and looked and sounded very good. Thoughts opinions would be appreciated.

Incredible piece of engineering.
Very expensive also (c.£40k I think)

I think they are approx. £55k new; some advertised in Top Marques for that sort of money with a few thousand miles on the clock.

Unless you need 4 doors and a big boot, I would rather a proper looking sports car, if you know what I mean.

Wide bodied 911 C4S?
NSX?

I am just not in to this hyper saloon car thing.

Image Doctor,

I had this dilemma recently. For sure, I'd love to have bought an NSX, 911 or F355 or similar, but didn't feel like it presented the image of the company I work for in the best light. When I visit customers, they might query what they're paying for if I turned up in any of the above! ;)

So, I plumped for the super saloon thing, and have an M5. :D It's very, very fast, handles very well, and is not monster to insure or service. Certainly no more than a Subaru. Plus, it's understated, and could be a 520 with a body kit and big wheels. Just have to make sure that customers don't clock the 4 tail pipes! ;)

Plus, it can take 5 of us wherever we need to go with luggage etc etc.

Matt

Thats a good point Matt, although one which I dont have to worry about, but it does make me help understand why people buy them.

Lucky enought to have a good look round an RS6 Avant yesterday whilst with VW. Its kinda nice :D :D :D

It has quite a distinctive V8 wuffle at tickover and I'm actually quite suprised how much exhaust note Audi have allowed this car to have.

If I was in a position to own one - I think I would (test drive pending of course). I think you are currently looking at RRP of £59,995 + options - its very easy to get the price to £64K if you get more nice options (its already well spec'ed)

As for Matts M5 - I love that car. If I wasn't involved in the horses for courses car saga (ie PD150==roadcar && xtr2==trackcar) It would be another car I would love to own.

Can I afford or justify having the Westy and an RS6/M5 - err... unfortunately no :(

Ian.
