OK folks,

Currently I am running 205/45 ZR17 on them, wich I believe is the recomended size.

Anyone running any different sizes?

would using 215/40/17 instead of 205/45/17 effect the speedo in any way?

We're talking Classic Scoob here.

Standard OEM tyre is 205/50x16.

205/45x17 is 0.8% larger.

215/40x17 is 1.2% smaller than OEM.

Speedo over-reads a bit anyway, and with 215/40x17 it will over-read a fraction more. I have these tyres and checking my speed against an accurate GPS Road Angel, an indicated 30mph is an actual 27, and 70 is an actual 66.
