I'm selling my Land Rover and will have around £14,000 maximum to spend on an Imprezza. What should I be looking at for this money? I've seen anything from 99 turbos to highish mileage 2001 and even 2002 model Imprezza WRXs. Should I go for a really nice early 2001 old shape or one of the bug eyed cars?
I've test driven 4 Scoobies so far and can't decide which exact one I want. |

You should go for mine! Silver MY01 WRX with 11k on the clock. Excellent condition, just serviced and full body underseal. Email me at Dan.Maskell@NTLWorld.Com if you want to know more....

If you can find a bit of extra cash from somewhere, my RB5's up for sale - well worth the investment for a limited motor the way std scooby prices are going!

i was in the sasme boat about 3 montsh ago the bug eye one hands down! the calassic is lovely but it drives & feels dated sadly, get a bug eye!!!!

If you want the ultimate Impreza, you'll want a Japanese import. Much quicker. You pay in the extra costs of insurance and fuel though

You should be able to buy a bug eye, 2002 with cash at that price !
Or the RB5, although i would say that, more ecomonical choice would be bug eye, more warrantry etc left on it ! |
If you looked hard enough and wanted the most performance for your money then you *might* be able to pick up a late V5 or V6 STi-R (or RA) and maybe even a V-limited model for that cash, but you will have too look as a phrase containing "hens teeth" springs to mind....

Personally I prefer the Classic shape to the bugeye and would try to get the latest, low mileage car possible. £14K should get a good low miles W or X plater with aircon any maybe a few other goodies such as 17s or PPP. The later u can get the more warranty it will have. U may even be able to get an RB5 but might not be in as good condition or low miles.
Keep the miles down and a future classic u will have:D:D |
I bought my 20 k mile w reg MY 2000 TURBO FOR £14495 from Bill Howie at Well Lane Turbo. Excellent car mint condition.
Before xmas my cousin bought a 99V STI V 29k mile jap import from Warrenders for £14750. His car is awesomely fast but guzzles the fuel. Both should be ok with warranties. 99 V reg UK cars seem best value at the mom, will pick one up privately for anything over £9-10k. Depends what mileage you want on your motor. Budget at least a few hundred quid for upgrades to the brakes if you dont drive like your gran! Cal |
A TypeR....absolutly no contest. :D
You'll get a MY00 STI-6 for 14 grand. 300bhp 0-60 4.2 secs. loads of toys like water spray, adjustable diffs...the quickest scoob ever built... [Edited by Gedi - 1/30/2003 9:38:18 PM] |
Easy one. Sti V6. Nothing else comes close.
|
STI V6 is the car to have (rarest/fastest/best looking scoob built so far) 14k wont get u a low mileage version but should find a ver 5 for that.
|
I know a friend on here who is selling his bug-eye WRX for just under £14k.
Has lead a pampered life. Only mod is the Scoobysport backbox, so not been tinkered with. FSH etc etc Drop me a line and I'll forward it onto him. |
Gedi,
may be the quickest built for the money (if its a type ra v ltd) but i think the S202 is probably a quicker car with 320ps and a very close ratio box ;) but it is a little bit more expensive :( Tony:D |
I'm not so worried about modded cars (yet!), just want the best stock car I can get for my money. Looks like the bug is the one I should go for, if any of you have one please e-mail me the details.
