Trying to buy 4 new F1's for my WRX but all the garages say that they have been superceeded by GSD 3's. Are these as good?

Cheers!

Mike

Echo 30 January 2003 11:44 AM

Doh! They are F1's, just two types. I've gone for the GSD 2's.

GSD-3's are the new entry from the GSD-2's.

Please don't go to one of these supermarket fitting station type places, i.e. kwik fit etc they are a rip off.

My advice, www.mytyres.net very good deals on Toyo proxes and GSD-3's. Free delivery to a fitting station of your choice or they will recomend one.

I think most people will agree that the 3's are somewhat better than the 2's ;)

Boo,
What size though?

LeonT 30 January 2003 09:30 PM

have any of you peeps tryed rainsport 1's

LeonT 30 January 2003 09:35 PM

also tyre out called malingola (made in italy i think)

very good tyre by all accounts,

also comes with an acidental damage warranty!!!!!
so if you was to like kerb 1 of them then they will replace it f.o.c
can't be bad !!!

sorry to hijack the thread,

but yes the gsd3 are supposed to be some what better than then the 2s, and that take some beating in my books

Boo 31 January 2003 02:59 AM

they are 205 r16

... can't agree more with ScoobyDooMe - don't go to KWIK fit!!!

I had F1 GSDs fitted by them (great tyre, can't complain especialyl in this weather) but in my ignorance at the time thought the price they wanted (£150 a corner) was the norm.

Now I feel like a tw$t

Leon

I ordered - but haven't had them fitted yet - the 2's on advice from my garage. My local place in Chipping Norton is doing them on 215 - 45 -17's at 90 +VAT each. I thought that was good but I'll check out Bracknell as it's only 50 miles away!

Thanks!

:-)

I don't think GY are making the GSD2's anymore! The GSD3's are the replacement.

I had 4 215/40 17's fitted the other week for £420 though I think I used the last of the GSD3's in the country as no-one has any!!! They are all waiting for a shippment from the factory.

just ordered four goodyear tyres from garage in bracknell 215/40/17....£400 fitted:D

ScoobyDuck 03 February 2003 01:59 PM

rich - GSD2 or 3's ???

just spoken to several tyre places about this issue. they say the 3's are exactly the same as the 2's apart from the load rating of the tyre.
now to me - that means the tyres beefed up a bit .. so cornering forces should be handeled better. but does anyone have any more information as I've just been quoted 560 for 4 ! (all inc = ~140 a corner) - bit pricey for me!

cheers
Steve
mytyres are doing them for 110 a corner + fitting. how much is fitting gona bite me ? 60 quid sounds a bit steep (mentioned on some thread somewhere!)
