Just got my first impreza turbo MY00, have discovered a strange problem with arming and disarming alarm. With my work i do a fair bit of driving about my local area in me scooby, there is one particular area about a mile square where my alarm keyfob wont activate the alarm and lock doors. Its ok to lock doors with key but when i get back in car after i cant disarm the immobiliser. Have fitted new batteries. Could it be something to do with radio waves or some interference nearby. I'm confused, anyone had this problem before???

I have the same trouble when I go into a certain petrol station.
I think there is a mobile phone mast near by. like you said it's interference:rolleyes:

I get the same ( MY00 ) naff aint it?? :(

I gave up on a trip to Newbury (Car Park by old Beatties) - I COMPLETELY forgot you could lock it via a key!! so, left town without doing a thing!! OOOOPS!

Radio mast is close to car park - its all I can put it down to, some parts of the car park are fine - others completely DEAD!

Your problem is almost certainly due to radio interference and the most likely source is a phone mast. Some garages are sneakily allowing the cell phone companies to install phone aerials in their petrol signs. Some good telling you to switch your mobile
phone off when at the pumps!

I've had the same problem. You can ask your garage for the immobiliser to be changed/upgraded with one that doesn't suffer from this.

I *think* that it is down to the immobiliser company to send one to the garage after the garage explains that this is a "frequent" problem for you - this way its free. This is because the immobiliser is working, but there is a conflict of interest in the frequency that is used by radio broadcasters!
