I've just bought a 2nd hand PC for my father, and the person I bought it off cannot remember their Outlook password.

Is it possible for me to reset all outlook settings / or delete outlook and re-install ???

Help !

I would remove Outlook and reinstall it.

In fact I would be tempted to wipe the machine and reinstall everything again, just so that you know exactly how the machine has been set up.

How quick !!!

Ok, makes sense...(now for the dopey question) how do I do that ? Is it something that a techno numptie can do ? Where's the best place to get a new copy of outlook ?

scoobyk

you can remove outlook via the add/remove programs within control panel. What os are you running?

You should be able to create a new mail profile by using the mail icon within control panel. This should also fix the problem, if you are not using outlook within an exchange you shouldnt need a password to correct. Mail me for info re outlook software.:D

Scoobyk, try this.
Go into control panel, double click the mail icon.
Click on the "show profiles" button.
Highlight any shown and click on remove.
When you start outlook you then start from scratch to configure it for yourself.
If u need help to configure afterwards, then comeback.

Thanks guys, really appreciated - I will be having a go tonight and will let you know of any probs - the os I think (havn't set the PC up yet) is 98 (couldn't convince my father to buy a new machine so he's testing the water with an older one !!)

Thanks again
