Just tried turning my laptop on and its dead as a dodo
Plug the mains in and it works warning me battery is low Battery is shown as 0% and the recharging light is not showing Any ideas Is it just my battery that needs replacing or can I check if the charging unit has failed Phil |
Batteries on laptops are fickle beasts, and tend to be covered by far flimsier warranties than the rest of the machine (speaking from experience - Compaq M300 - 2.5 yrs old on 3rd battery :(). I expect you need a new battery, but if you have the opportunity try another battery from a colleague's machine to make sure it is definitely the battery.
If you do get a new battery, do make sure you do a full uninterrupted 24hr charge on the battery on first using it, and if you have calibration software, then use it. These steps will help to prolong the long-term life of the batetryu, and give you better battery performance as the machine knows what the battery limitations are. Hope this helps Joolz |

We had to buy a load of laptop batteries in our office recently because alot of people who have laptops have them docked for the majority of the time and running of the mains power supply.
This will bring about the early death of this type of rechargable battery. They last longer if they are cycled on a full charge / full discharge basis. |
