Can I mail you a test program which will tell you if you're connected to the internet or not? that's all it does, no funny business.
you need to be running through a proxy and/or a firewall, btw. cheers |
You can send it me if you like :) mail me as per my profile
Paul |
on it's way
|
You can mail it to me too.
Any funny business and I'll send the boys round ;) Stefan |
to me too - I'll kill your pets if it does bad things..
|
It says not connected to the network for me - behind firewall but no proxy
|
yeah, written another one. Stefan's testing it for me.
|
if you want :D
bewarned i can break anything easily :D |
I never received it
Paul |
paul I did send it, but outlook was kind enough to block the exe!
this is what I was doing: http://www.btinternet.com/~madtoye/AmIConnected2.exe works out if you are connected to the net and if you are, how (modem/lan) |
Lan -> Firewall -> Private WAN -> Firewall -> Internet
Identified as "LAN" Deano |
PC > s/w Firewall > LAN > h/w Router > Internet
...registers as "LAN". |
pc > hardware firewall = LAN
|
SonicWALL....LAN
|
cheers chaps.
did anyone try stopping the network connection and then running the test app? |
It still recognises the LAN even if the cable's unplugged.
|
is it red or green tho'?
|
LAN > Bridge > LAN > Switch > Router > Proxy > IDS > Firewall > WAN = LAN on green.
|
It shows LAN/green when the ethernet lead is unplugged as well as when it's connected.
|
bit more code then.
|
I'm using home LAN (private IP), though also with VPN running (public IP), through a ZoneAlarm Pro firewall and it says....
"Modem" Shades |
Shows Green "LAN" even if I pull the LAN cable, I assume because the NIC is still live.
However, shows Red ".//." if I disable the "Local Area Connection". Still shows Red ".//." if I restart the "Local Area Connection" and stays red no matter how many times I click "Connection" button. However, as I soon as I use the LAN in any way, clicking the "Connection" button brings it back to Green "LAN". Cheers Ian |
Works through Firewall NG also. Detects the LAN correctly
