well thats a bit of a shock....quote for four tyres for my P1 205/45/17......£600https://www.emotipad.com/emoticons/Argh.gif
tried three garages and all about the same price....can anyone tell me what tyres they recommend for a P1 as i've found the Pzero are crap in the wet and if there is somewhere a tad cheaper in the berks area [Edited by rich uk300 - 1/27/2003 11:36:45 AM] |
You'll need to go for 215/40-17's and then you're looking at around £100-£110 for Goodyear F1's :D

cheers mate sounds a lot better:D
does changing the size affect the car? |
might slightly but the rolling diameter should still be within a 10% tolerance.
cheers big sinky |

215/40/17 - Toyos £68.20 delivered inc vat, from mytyres.net I'm waiting for mine !! are the toyos any good? cheers rich |
I've never had trouble with getting gararges to fit tyres for me. After all, they're still getting money for it.
As for Toyos, they wear well, grip in the dry well and are a world away from P-zeros in the wet. Overall, probably the best buget performance tyre. Do a search on Toyos for loads more praise. |
cheers for replies:D

I think the rolling radius is a little lower which means ur speedo will read a little faster than u are going - I prefer it this way tbh. However its still within the 2% govt limit.
I think u will find most scoob owners on SN (classic shapes anyways) go to 215/40/17 as there are far more tyres available in that size. Oh yeah - the extra width from 2015 to 215 protects your wheel rims from kerbs that little bit more :D Simon. |
Try Headley Tyres near Newbury, seldom beaten for price IMHO.

Rich, you're not far from Tyres Northampton (01604-588599, ask for Mark).
These are the guys that give such excellent service with track support at SIDC days. I wouldn't go anywhere else - they care about what they do and it shows. Prices always competitive, too. The tyres you want are 215/40x17 Toyo T1-S or Goodyear F1. If you go the separate fitting route, make sure they've got a precision balance machine and someone that knows how to work it. Bung him a tenner and ask him to take care ;) Richard. |
Think yourself lucky !
Mine were £147 each for 4x Bridgestone Potenza S-03's 225 x 35 x 18's & £60 for fitting and tracking !! :( |

I got my last set of 17" goodyear eagle F1 GSD3's from a place not far from Windsor. Paid £365 all in for the set of 4 I believe.

Tyre Northampton every time for me too. After the OEM set, I always put 215/40/17s on my P1, and always from TN. Mark's an absolute star, and their prices are always good. You might find a couple of places cheaper (not many though) but I doubt you'll find anyone better.
