Price: £22,340
Capacity: 3189cc Power: 237bhp 0-62mph: 6.6 seconds Maximum speed: 153mph Volkswagen figures. damn close i bet though |
MIDMOTORSTEVE,
GOT TO ADMIT, NOTHING IN IT DOWN THE TWISTIES BUT OFF THE LINE THERE WERE CAR LENGTHS TO BE HAD, NICE LOOKING GOLF THOUGH! |
ouch.. my ears!
|
Codhead, give 'im a break m8, the xhorst on the R32 prolly made him deaf so HE HAS TO SHOUT.
If capslock-itis is SHOUTING how do we get ppl to be dumb? Rhetorical question. |
Capacity: 3189cc Power: 237bhp E36 M3 ~321 Porche somethings ~ 300ish Still I suppose it will allow the tuners to do some magic on the engine |
STI-MAN,
Those cars have obviously had a lot of development time to get that sort of power. More time developing the engine = more money! I'm quite sure if VW wanted to they could have pushed out c.300BHP but I would imagine it would come with a price tag to match! |
He was probably running in- they are pretty new!

Also the 3.2 would be relatively understressed than if it was running c300bhp so it should be stronger & reliable.
I guess they'll gradually increase the power for the Mk5. |
The 0-60 time is a bit misleading,with it being a six speeder.The 0-50 is 4.6.
"r32 innit" WTF? Was it Ali g or Stavros driving? I think they look demon anyway. |
Why anyone would pay 22k for a Golf ill never know
|
???thats less than a scooby???and likely to be put together much better as well? 3.2 bound to be well tunable
|
Well tunable? I wouldnt think so as its na.
Would cost a packet to get even a modest bhp increase. As for it being cheaper than a Scooby, depends if you can handle having a used car or not....... me? I'd have a P1 and some change! |
It has to be a more sensible choice than a p1. although I'd wait for a bit and get a second hander.
After seeing the pictures of it and the idea of a 3.2 litre golf I'm starting to get moist for one I have to admit. |
New model golf is due out soon do you want an old shaper ?.
|
Yeah would'nt really bother me. This shape golf has'nt been the best like, but the R32 and anniversary one look pretty tasty. I've not got me peepers on the new shape whats it like?
|
Dont know just heard there a new one on the way. TBH the best golf was the mark 1 and 2 GTi. The V6 and turbos have not really impressed me, the Corrado 2.9 VR6 was a nice bit of kit and nearly brought one just a bit cramped for my frame :D. I didnt like the Golf VR6 or the 4Motion.
Called in at the TVR dealer today and they have a T350C demonstrator one of only 3 in the country, awesome bit of kit. [Edited by chrisp - 1/26/2003 8:40:05 PM] |
Now I like the golf vr6,I reckon looks quite mean and is/was a bit of a "gangstar/hood/homie/dog/dealer/etc." type car round our way.
That Tvr you are talking about is quite creamworthy indeed. Was the dealer you went to christopher neil in northwich,or are you not up north? |
The TVR dealer was Peter Smiths in Hatton (Derby) called in as I was at Donington Park (only about 15 minutes away along the A50 west)
|
Why anyone would pay 22k for a Golf ill never know Maybe VW wont bring out the Mk5 and reduce it's cost by £4k on the current model - maybe something to do with that ;) |
|
For that money I would expect 4 doors at least ;) :D
Nice motor mate |
