Does everyone just paint their callipers or do they paint their discs as well? Im thinking about painting my discs black. Dont know why, just thought of it.

Anyone sprayed their callipers black or does everyone do it red?

Also, do you just pick up the local paint from Halfords or is there some other rubbish i have to buy?!

Anyone got a pic of their callipers on the black scoob

Cheers guys

And if anyone says look in the search engine, dont bother. Just looked for the year and there wasnt much! lol :)

Money you saw my calipers painted gold when we met up. Piece of piss to do. I used Folia-tec caliper paint cost about £20 from Halfords comes in about five different colours including black. Never heard about painting discs though

Hi Money, iv'e been painting my calipers on a number of different cars with heat resistant paint 3 coats and it is spot on mate. Tins are about £3 thats all get a can of brake cleaner small brush and you are away all comes to less than a tenner for the lot job done.

Here's a pic of mine i did a couple of months ago.

Cheers mate. Got the paint now so should have fun today :D

martin850 26 January 2003 12:12 PM

Are you sticking with black or are you going with another colour now. Make sure you post some pics mate

M0NEY 26 January 2003 12:27 PM

Went with black. Will post some pics when they are done. i was going to go red as i think red on a black car will look nice but quite a lot of people have done red. :(

money heres a tip, get a motorbike tyre pen ie the ones that are used to fill in the tyre names they are available in loads of colours and use it to go over the subaru name on your calipers thats what i did. red and silver for me :D

M0NEY 26 January 2003 08:32 PM

Cheers mate. I was thinking about doing this. Your way sounds much easier to some of the stories ive heard people trying to do theirs! :D

Eagle7 26 January 2003 10:24 PM

i wouldnt recommend painting your discs! I would guess this might have the same effect as oiling your tyres! :o

M0NEY 27 January 2003 01:19 PM

lol. Yeah found out not to paint the discs. :D

P1 Owner 27 January 2003 02:57 PM

M0NEY 27 January 2003 07:15 PM

Let me know when you go there, ill come down definitely! :D

We should sort it out in the week when we do go down and then we can get some scoobs from here to come :D

Really wouldn't recommend painting the discs. My brother in law painted a set (non Scooby but still vented disc brakes) and one day he over-cooked them. The brakes almost went up in flames (and the car) - and it was the correct paint used - soo much smoke that he had to leave the car for over 1/2 hr.

Performance discs combat rust by being annodised not painted since paint will retain heat!

you can paint the places where the disc doesnt touch, i have done this on all my cars before with no probs at all, i used hammerite paint to do it.
