I got a new PC from Mesh Computers recently and have been having real problems with my DVD Writer and CD Writer. They are both seperate drives running on the same IDE cable. Basically whenever I go to burn a CD or DVD i get SCIS/IDE error's and wasted DVD/CD's.

Mesh technical support might just aswell not exist for all the help they give you. I think no one that works there as more than 3 GCSE's.

So, what i intend to do is to remove the CD Writer and put it onto the same IDE as the Hard Disk and set it to slave off the HD. I'll then leave the DVD Writer on its own IDE cable set as master. Does this sound about right?

Its just in the past at work when we have had 2 CDROM/DVD ROM drives running off the same IDE it has caused similar problems?

Any other suggestions?

(PS its not the software that is causing the problem because i get the same error message when using Nero and DVD X Copy on both drives).

Thanks

Marc

I'd put the DVD-R drive as the master on the secondary IDE and the CD-RW as slave on the primary. Especially if you are copying on the fly :)

Agreed.

Put the Writer on its own IDE channel. This should stop your errors...
