I’m looking for a wireless Ethernet (802.11) card for my iPAQ – any suggestions? It’s an iPAQ 3630 running PocketPC 2002. I have a PCMCIA expansion jacket, and also have a Type-1 CompactFlash adaptor card (very much like this one) - so I guess I can use ethernet adapters in both formats.
Has anyone here used a WiFi card (that is the same as 802.11, right?) with an iPAQ PDA? Can you recommend any particular card, or brand? I want to be able to encrypt traffic, but I understand that's a standard feature - true? Cheers... Ben |

The Orinoco (aka Lucent) Gold card is the best out there as far as I'm aware, and it just so happens I'm selling one :) Brand new, never used, still in box.
Have a look around and make me an offer if you're interested. (andym172@[no spam]yahoo.com) Andy. |
Andy, the web site makes no reference to support for WinCE (specifically PPC-2002). You sure it's supported?

I have a D-Link DWL-650C (i think...) for mine. Works fine - cool strenght tool and other utils as part of the driver too. Ids |
Fatman - Yes, I'm 99.99999% sure it works.
I used to have an Ipaq (running WinCE) and was going to use the card in conjunction with that but never got round to it. Andy. |
Used both a Cisco 350 full size PCCard in the PC Card sleeve and a Symbol Wireless Networker CF card in the CF card sleeve.
No problems with with either of them. |
Thanks for the responses. I think I'm going to go for Linksys kit: the WCF12 card and the Wireless Access Point. The card is guaranteed to work with the iPAQ and PPC2002 and they're pretty cheap, too.
Appreciate the input :) (edited because my seplling is rubbish ;) ) [Edited by Fatman - 1/26/2003 1:36:08 PM] |
