Considering fitting STi 5 or 6 heads to a rebuilt closed deck block EJ20 and putting it in my MY00 Euro spec.

Cam and crank position sensor signals are reversed.
No intake temperature wiring.

Anyone tell me exact differences in the wiring looms, suggest any other issues with this swap?

I would use an AF040/041 or AG340 ECU to go with the STi heads.

Any suggestions?

why change?

cant you just use std ecu (yours) and map accordingly?

Possibly could David, not sure if the VE data in the ECU would match.... probably can just map around it with the main fuel and timing maps as usual. Problem is David with Phase II JECS is that we don't have access to some of the more interesting correction/compensation maps, and when you go mad it can get interesting.

Why don't you just get a STI 5/6 and start again. Or are those mad jap cars not becoming of a GP. Would look rather fetching with a little green flashing light on top ;)

The only STi holy grail remaining would be the heads, seems daft to buy a car for its heads. I already have the fuel system, turbo, intercooler, brakes, suspension to my liking etc and I prefer the UK gear ratios. (need a few braces though and some other minor suspension work).

Now im converting RHD STi3 MY97, into LHD. There is no possibility to buy RHD loom suitable for STi. Connectors on engine - different position, wiring loom goes through the car on other side, different position of dash connectors etc. I must do several cuts on wirings (250??) and make the wiring loger. (First I thought about running STi on Euro GT loom, but looks impossible - there are too many differencies in loom and connectors)

So presumably If you port and polish the heads, and fit some monster cams you are going to run into problems again?

theres nothing magical about the heads.

you would be better off having your own ones breathed upon.

and I was under the impression that the sti suspension arms were alloy, thereby reducing unsprung mass. The engine mounts and transmission mount are supposed to be more rigid, and the suspension bushes too.

only difference in gearing is final drive ratio, which can be changed.

By your reckoning you cant be a true purist engine lover! we all know that the rev counter should outrank the speedo!!! :D

Head castings are the same for both, cams and valves are different though.

Jecs VE data ... treat it as a set of numbers and map to your lambda meter John, I ran mine off the scale but up until that point it was doing pretty well.

Compensation maps are not available, they are there but the code is a nightmare with no logic to it and it would take too much work to sort them out so I'm very reliably advised.

As far as I know the Type R, RA and 22B had shorter ratios (not the same) and the normal 4 door STI had the same ratios as the Uk cars.

Bob do you think a JECS might support a 2.5 by just changing the base maps?
