Does anyone play golf on Scoobynet?

I just came across a site called

If you are at all serious about your golf, avoid lake balls. Unless they are recovered within minutes, the ball will start to absorb the water, affecting its performance.

Golf ball performance degrades quite quickly with use anyway, so only use them for practice.

Gezzer is quite correct. Lake balls are ok for practice, but deteriate very quickly unless retrieved asap. The flight and distance can be affected
For your information i own a Golf shop in bristol if any of you scooby owners have another hobby!!!!

you forget boys,Pinnacles are the hardest substance known to man. They use them for cutting diamonds.
Thin one in Winter and u are ***ked!!!

Balata lake balls, yeh, leave alone, but I reckon hes alright with Pinnacles.Use those and u are hardly likely to be spinning in 3 irons anyway!!

My swing affects the flight and distance much more than any ball ever could! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Flight = Low
Distance = Bugger all (other than the one that goes 2 miles over the hedge)

Chris, a similar style of golf to myself, can consistently drive the ball over 250 yards, unfortunately unless the fairway is over 200 yards wide the odds of me staying on it are not great http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

To be perfectly honest, I am not the worlds best golfer and lake balls will be ok for me!! I can't justify spending a fiver on 3 good balls, and then proceed to launch them into some farmers field/ditch/long grass/lake or any other hiding place!! I would be el skinto within a week!

Having said all that, the other week I played and I lost only 3 balls, and all on one stinking hole....my 3 wood suddenly failed me and they disappeared into the distance...I think I might have scared a few sheep that happened to be in the field next to us!!! So I think there is some improvement.

I only hope it stops raining soon, as I am playing saturday and I don't fancy playing through 2 foot puddles!!

Also Nozzer, i need a new 7 iron, any chance of a recommendation and discount?!! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Fast Bloke,
I sell lots of 2/3 piece new or lake balls so it makes no odds to me. I also used to be of scratch until shop/scooby/daughter came along so i know where you are comming from.
I'd much rather spend my free time at trackdays or with my daughter then getting stressed out 3 putting for the county!!
Jim,
How much do you want to spend on a 7 iron?
Regards Ian

How much do they cost?? I have no idea!!

The set I currently have are Wilson Sam Snead (probably about 10 years old!) So they are non-graphite, non-cavity, probably barely worth playing with!!

Would £30 be to much or to little?
