I want to put some Prodrive OZ 10 spoke wheels on my Classic MY99 turbo, with standard suspension.

What tyres for 18" or 17" - I have not made my mind up yet.

F1's or Toyos ??

I've just went from Goodyear F1 GS-2's to Toyo Proxes T1-S's. I'm pretty pleased, although I've only done around 50-miles, so they're no where near scrubbed-in yet.

It's gonna be difficult to tell. You can only really compare both when they are at their best. The trouble with buying new tyres is the old ones were probably past their best months before you stick on some new rubber, so they're gonna feel 100 times better.

The Goodyears were OK, but I wasn't gobsmacked by them.

You can get Toyo Proxes from MyTyres.net for £70 inc.VAT and delivered to your door.

The same size Goodyears were at least £20 a corner more and no one could supply them within a week. I personally think that Goodyear are controlling the supply, which is keeping the price a bit high on the new model (GS3).

You'll not go wrong with either tyre, so just decide on 17" or 18".

Don't Toyo's wear out quicker because of softer rubber?

If they do doesn't that mean the prices will work themselves out eventually?

what size though ???

Subaru tech dept told me - 205/45 ZR on 17"
They don't recommend 18's at all

everyone else seems to say 215/40 for 17", 215/35 for 18"

anyone got these on their classic turbo ?? HELP

Mickle,

I haven't ran the Toyo's long enough to tell you a wear rate first hand. My m8 here @ work runs the same tyres on his Honda Prelude and has never had a problem with them wearing out any faster than other tyres.

My Goodyears old lasted 12K, whereas my Pirelli's last 25K (although those were illegally bald when they came off the car). The Pirelli's were the original tyres, so got some serious abuse in the first year of ownership, but I reckon they were good up to 23K miles.

As for sizes. Subaru recommend 205/45/17, but that limits your choice to Pirelli and ..... well I can't think of another :(

The other recommended size for 17's is 215/40/17. I've run these for my last set of Goodyears and now my Toyos.

http://www.dsm.org/tools/tiresize.htm is a good site to check tyre sizes.

I think 18's are the perfect size for the Scoob arches. This is simply going on looks alone. Personally i have 17's but can't justify the cost of jumping an inch.
