Change of plan.

Just a quick go...

I'm sure that'll stand for about 30 seconds! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Tricky section with the gate... *lol*

I know... I HATE that bit! taken on the absolute limit, it's a *bit* of a lottery I reckon.

I am assuming we can't take short cuts? What is the ruling there as I really don't think I can get any quicker without cutting a few corners, etc.

Cheers

Simon

SecretAgentMan 26 March 2001 05:16 PM

I don't think we've stated any official "how to run the SS's" set of rules...I reckon we're all grown ups here, and that we stay on the road throughout the SS's.

http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

And cheats are NOT allowed, I don't think "faster cars" or "turbo boost" will help anyone though.. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif *lol* Tried it yesterday for a larf...and I sucked bigtime.

More than normal anyway...

Back to Australia....

bloody hell!!

can't even match my last time now! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

What set-up you using J?

IWatkins 26 March 2001 10:00 PM

1:04.59 - Scooby.

Damn, need to try harder.

At the gate, I just shut my eyes http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Rules are simply that you have to use a WRC car and no cheats. I guess if you want to straightline a corner, you can, but if you get well off the road, it is very slow going. I know, because I've been trying it http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

I like this stage as you can do some ditch hooking to get you around and because it is a short stage, you can have more goes before the missus starts moaning about it http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

I must try harder....
I must try harder....

SDB 26 March 2001 10:41 PM

Well... in that case then Ian...

1:03.34 Focus.

I guess it *is* better that way so there are no judgment calls as to whether that brush with the trees / clip of that apex was quite within the rules.

At least this way its just "how quick can you get from a to b".

DavidLewis 26 March 2001 11:29 PM

Hi Guys.

O.k. I know I'm being thick here but how do I get to the higher stage numbers?

I'm currently plodding my way through a championship (Kenya) and I've even tried the "All Tracks" cheat but I can even manage that!!!!

Can someone help a CMR2 duffer (please http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif)

IWatkins 26 March 2001 11:52 PM

Simon, J, etc.

I've found that actually taking a short cut across the scenery doesn't help, it actually increases your time, by seconds.

I'm occasionaly getting two wheels on the edge of a banking to hook the car around a 3 right (about 5 corners in I think) to avoid hitting a bank on the exit. That is totally legal in my book.

Even trying all four wheels on the bank to use it as a wall-of-death type corner actually increases your time. Best bet is to brake for the corner and do it properly. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Ian

SecretAgentMan 27 March 2001 06:42 AM

*hhmmm* So everything goes now. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif If that's the case, then I'm out, sorry guys.

I prefer to drive on the actual roads.

SDB 27 March 2001 08:10 AM

Jerry

We're only talking about cutting the odd corner (I assum). Nothing that wouldn't be allowed on a real rally.

The only one I'm cutting is the 3 right of after the 3 left near the start (only about 5 turns in or someting (it also has a time control on it). And even then I'm just about a car width off the track, nothin huge.

What about you Ian?

Cheers

Simon

dsmith 27 March 2001 08:49 AM

I seem to remember at one of the spectator stages a few years back on the RAC (I think when it still was the RAC etcc etc. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif ) that some bloke called Colin and he wasn't the only way), Cut a large sweeping Left Hander and went straight over the grass to the extent that he went behind a couple of somewhat surprised Marshalls.

Haven't yet tried CM2 on the PC but if it's not too disimilair to the PSX then any more than a few wheels off to ditch hook it round and its more likely to be significantly slower...

Hmm must get CM2 for PC so I can join in. Do you guys use Keys or Joysticks. I think I might miss my NegCon http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Dean

SDB 27 March 2001 12:55 PM

So what's the ruling then?

That last time of mine included COMPLETELY cutting that 3 right (as in RIGHT off the road).

you would DEFINTELY get away with it on a rally. But I will retract that time if it's not allowed.

Cheers

Simon

Maxwell Straker 27 March 2001 01:05 PM

Did some-one say 'brake for the corner', I am afraid I do not understand this term, please can you expand!!! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

These corners are like the left/right through the gate, you take it flat in the hope you will straighten up out the other side. Also, if you stick to the road going over the yump on a slight left hander towards the end you will go over the fence so you have to 'cut' it slightly.

There is one stage however that does have a significant 'short-cut', you find it my having a huge off and being placed back on the road way down the stage........I will leave it at that http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

IWatkins 27 March 2001 01:46 PM

Simon,

I'll make a ruling then. If you can improve your time by taking a complete off-road excursion, then fine. All stages have an edge to them, whether they be 5 foot of 50 foot from the edge of the road. This is all legal within the game.

However, in my experience of CMR2 you can generally improve your times by sticking to the road.

So, your time stands, but you get 10 second penalty for being a smarty pants http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Only joking. Your time stands.

Cheers

I get the hint..... Il get me coat http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

SDB 27 March 2001 11:50 PM

Oops!!

Sorry dave...

You need to complete the championship to get the later stages.

If you are trying a cheat... make sure you're using the cheat for the correct version of the game (pc or psx).

I don't know what they are unfortunately... but I think they've been posted on here before??

What's happenin then??

blubs 28 March 2001 09:06 AM

I'm still here but well out of the running.

I haven't really had a chance other than a few runs on Monday so my best is 1:07.90.

I shall have to buck my ideas up tonight !!!

J,
Aren't you playing any more mate?

IWatkins 28 March 2001 09:09 AM

You bunch of jessies!!! come on!!! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

a little bit of gravel and everyone goes to pot!! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Seriously...
I reckon the next stage needs to be chosen with the short cut thing in mind. In fact, one of the reasons I chose the sweden one (before it was dropped) was that it was nice and tight and had no shortcuts (that I know of).

Maxwell.. which stage is it that has this BIG shortcut? So we know to avoid it.

Cheat for all cars on pc: ALLTHEBUTTONS on psx ONECAREFULOWNER
Cheat for all tracks on pc: GREATNEWS on psx HELLOCLEVELAND

To use cheats go to the "create a new driver" menu and type these instead of your name (put in the same 3 letter 'name' that you always use).

BTW can only get 1.09.08 on SS6 Australia (in the 206)

Just click on the single stage link on the rally menu, then you can play whatever stage you like.

DavidLewis 29 March 2001 12:26 PM

Steve,

Yep, tried those, must be doing something wrong. Never mind, I guess I'll have to finish the championship

Haven't had the chance to check my time for France SS2 to compare my ability against you hardened CMR2'ers, no doubt it'll be no-where near.

Thanks for your help. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Hi Jerry

I don't think I could repeat that time, I got lucky through that 3 right. The section following is the only one that really fluctuates for me. So I would be happy to call it a draw on this one if you like.

Can we choose one that has not shortcuts, etc in it so there is no confusion, etc.

Cheers

Simon
