I have an MY99 and I have started getting some vibration through the steering wheel at about 60 - 70 mph...it feels like the tracking is slightly out but could it be something else? I have checked the tyres and they look fine, there is no judder under braking so I assume it's not them and there are no weights missing on the rims so I don't think the wheels are unbalanced??? hmmmmm

Next question, when driving sensibly i.e not accelerating hard and sticking between 2800 and 3000 rpm the car has the sensation that it is rocking faster then slower (only tiny amounts). Does anyone know what I mean or am I just imagining this?!?!?!?

I'd appreciate some advice as I've only had the car a couple of weeks and I'd like to get it sorted...especially the wheel vibration.

For the first question: It could be the tracking - the factory settings can be a bit so-so.
It could be that your wheels could do with balancing. They do drift a little over time. (Eg. hitting a pothole, tyre wear etc... they all take their toll on the wheels.) but I would guess the tracking first.

Tracking is quite an easy check - just take it somewhere that can cope with 4 wheel alignment, or they could make it worse! (Sorry - no sugestions for a place in Italy)

The second question sounds like hesitation. Could just need a tune (Eg new plugs etc) I had same problem:)
Check that the ecu light bulb is connected as when I checked mine. It didnt and I had a fault on the ecu. I replace the sensor which was the knock sensor and it went like stink. Some people remove the ECU warning bulb on there cars when they sell the car so any fault wont show up when they sell it. If you have just purchased the car I would check to see if the bulb is in. You can do this by connecting the 2 small black connectors under the dash board drivers side. only 1 wire attached to each end of the plug. Both are very small connectors about 1cm in diameter. Connect them and turn your ignition on. If a light starts flashing. The bulb is in. If it is in check to see if any fault codes are flashed out. If they are get back to the thread and someone if not my sellf will be able to advise you.

Mine rocks when cold but I think all the MY99 models do this but not when warmed up.

Sounds like the balance of your wheels is out. Vibration will be caued by the rim being out of true or more likely one of your wheel weights has dropped off. You can check by feeling where the vibration comes from . Move your front wheels to the back and then you`ll feel it in your seat.

The rocking is the closed loop, the ecu adds and subracts fuel to try and maintain the mixture at stoich, what you can feel is the fuel increase and decrease causing that effect, its even more marked with larger injectors installed. Its an annoyance if you are sensitive to it.
