Has anyone got one? I took my old gear knob off and put my new momo one but the gaitor around the gear stick doesnt hold up. It just flops down and you cant wrap it around the gear knob!!

So has anyone got a momo gear knob and sorted this problem out?

i was going to put this same question up tonight!

also mine is a 95 wrx with the rubbery gator!
is it possible to use a later one or are there any good after market ones?

I had the very same problem with mine mate!!!
I used a bit of rubber hose, slid it over the gear lever and zip tied it in place, then re-fitted the gator and the gear knob. The gator now sits on the top edge of the pipe snug against the bottom of the gear knob.
Job done :)

Sounds good wible. Hopefully if i see you tonight, i will come have a look.

Had loads of fun over the weekend with it. Pulled the gaitor over the bottom of the gear knob thinking i had done it as it seemed secure, only to bloody fall off!

The classic solution is to wind some tape (electrical tape, masking tape etc) around the shaft just underneath the knob. Keep going until it's thick enough for the gator top to sit snugly over it. This works really well!

Boost II is right. It sounded a bit dubious to me when I first heard this one- but it is very effective.

Met wible last night and did what he said, very happy now!

I told him about the tape idea but he said when he tried that, after a while, the glue/tape started to melt a bit and lose the stickness and eventually came off. Just thought i would let you know.

Just glad its done :D

Tape shouldnt come off, use Insulating tape, i've had mine done for over a year and its still fine if that helps :)

Cheers TBMeech. Done it now but thanks for the advice

I fitted the plastic bit that was slightly too small and then wedge
the knob on to it ( it was a struggle ) and no need for the grub screws, tight as you like! gaiter holds up just fine MY00.
