Not exactly techincal but this might be of use to someone.

My 94 WRX wagon didn't have a parcel shelf when i bought it so i though it was about time i got one. I've noticed that there are a few people looking for them in the wanted forum so figured there might not me that many lying around spare. So, i popped round to B&Q and got some MDF to make my own.

So far it's taken about an hour to knock together.

Materials - £8

606mm x 1220mm x 9mm MDF
about 6' of 10mm x 10mm pine stripwood
box of 16mm screws

Other stuff used -

Wood glue, drill, jigsaw.

The main shelf was cut to 92.5mm from side to side and used the full 606mm width of the board.

The main shelf itself has been cut slightly narrower than the opening and edges glued and screwed onto the main shelf. I've shaped the edges so i can join them up with the 10m x 10mm strips to make buckets in the shelf to stop stuff rolling around.

Edges with a 20mm overhang off the main shelf.

Almost ready to be covered

Still to do.... fit the lugs for the hinges, fit some rubber on the rear edge to fill out the curve of the boot, upholster, fit the hangers/cords,

I'll post the finished item when it's done.
