If any of you are interested it's the Glastonbury gig (I was there :D) and they were one of the highlights.

So grab the acid and turn the lights down low.

dull as ditchwater IMO :(

bug-eyed wonder 18 January 2003 09:06 PM

Now that's an interesting point UB, I actually thought it was "dull as dishwater"! Perhaps some clarification is called for on this matter! :D

unclebuck 18 January 2003 10:33 PM

I always thought it was 'ditch', are you saying that it's actually 'dish'?? :p

bug-eyed wonder 18 January 2003 10:37 PM

No! I'm asking for clarification :p

unclebuck 18 January 2003 10:39 PM

OK - 'ditch'...it's....ditch :p

unclebuck 18 January 2003 10:41 PM

Orbital clarification: I saw them at Glastonbury once. Took loads of Mexican mushrooms and....:D:D they were *really* boring - and the PA was *really* quiet.

bug-eyed wonder 18 January 2003 10:45 PM

Boring, tedious, as in that was dull as dishwater. The original simile, dull as ditchwater, dating from the 1700s, alluded to the muddy water in roadside ditches. In the first half of the 1900s, perhaps through mispronunciation, it became dishwater, that is, the dingy, grayish water in which dirty dishes had soaked.

Well ain't that an interesting point! :D

unclebuck 18 January 2003 10:47 PM

told you so... :p Oribital were still dull tho' :D

bug-eyed wonder 18 January 2003 10:58 PM
