chiark 26 February 2001 02:30 PM

Lahore? Is that on Commercial St, or a different one?

I used to live just off Manchester Road on Isle of Dogs, and worked near Aldgate... Still do occasionally work in Aldgate, so this beer thing.. hm..

beatle 26 February 2001 02:53 PM

that is the one on Commercial St , altho they have recently refurbished it ( put laminated flooring on the ceiling ) the cost of this has not yet been passed on to the punter with the average 3 course meal still costing £11

Dream Weaver 26 February 2001 05:04 PM

I live in Lancashire, but have a friend who works for DLR. When we visit him we end up having some bevvys in a pub over looking the river - not sure of the name?? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

I have seen the Canary as well http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Yex 26 February 2001 05:47 PM

So we're making progress then...it's a quiet beer (and 8 or so noisy ones http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif ) and then food of some description.

Puff - what's wrong with a ruby?

Yex

Andy

Is MSDW your company or ISP? I have a friend in London who has just emailed me and his address ends in @msdw.com Is this the same company?

DW

Puff The Magic Wagon! 27 February 2001 12:51 AM

I would suggest the Prospect of Whitby in Wapping Wall, for no other reason than I know where it is!

chuckster 27 February 2001 07:48 AM

I don't drink, I quaff LOL
Hmmmm, good places round here - Gaucho grill for steaks, ummm thats it unless you are up for a £100 a head Ubon experience. Good friends is good, but frankly I'd probably only do beers as getting home after 11pm for me is a very tuff job.
Ronnie, you know my thoughts on beering with you, posted on another thread http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif .
If it's a good night for me I'll make it whatever you guys plan.
Chuck

OK, this pub is accross the river from another pub which used to be a big prison. It has flats above it, and loads of tables outside it. Thats about all I know. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Richard F 27 February 2001 01:11 PM

MSDW - Morgan Stanley Dean Witter??

If so, I'm across the road...

Mo 27 February 2001 01:15 PM

Sorry to highjack the thread but Captain Kid, by Wapping nick on the high street sells an interesting lager. I can't remember what it's called (maybe D pils or something has a picture of a fat man on the pump!) but I've seen a few hardened drinkers go awol after drinking that stuff!

I can see the tower from my window (and our new building next to it??) but I'm not on the island.

Zak.

beatle 27 February 2001 01:20 PM

why dont we sort a date out then worry about the location

Yex 27 February 2001 02:20 PM

How about week commencing 19th March, leaning towards the Thursday. This should give all attendees plenty of time to arrange their diaries suitably, and pass on the usual selection of banter and comments via the BBS on the Friday http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

We can then use the more local knowledge of contributors to this thread to organise a venue. I'm probably going to be in the same boat as Chuck about getting home so may have to leave around 10.30...but could always start a little early http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

TelBoy 27 February 2001 05:07 PM

All,

How about thursday march 15th?

Beers at the Henry Addington, then food at wherever. Gourmet Pizza's pretty good if you're not after a gourmet experience (!).

Anybody else in MSDW? I'm on 2nd floor...

Terry
