Does any one have an accurate idea of the gains if the center cat on a MY00 is removed. Does it make any difference at all.

The down pipe has not yet been changed, I am just thinking ahead.

mmmmmmm i agree,
better off changing the down pipe for optimal gains.
i was disapointed when i did my centre de cat, didnt notice much difference at all

What if you already have the d/pipe and b/box??
Does the c/section make much difference then??

buzzerboyroy 16 January 2003 07:40 PM

only a little i would of thought,
ive yet to do my dp.
backbox and dp are the most restrictive ,it helps to do the centre section so i have been told,to make it free flowing of gases !!!

Have you guys ever seen a cat?! It's a huge obstruction in the exhaust. Very restrictive!

Changing the cat alone wont give you much gain, but you can afterwards increase the boost and get more out of the engine as it will let it flow more gas out. I am replacing the downpipe and the rest of the exhaust, in fact anything but the manifold and the uppipe (which has a cat in it in the newer versions!!!)

Not even mentioning the weight gain. Have you ever held a cat and noticed how damn heavy it is?!

Hi guy's, re the centre section, not sure it's actually a cat, I may be wrong but I think its just a resonator? Not a lot to be gained by removing it. Definately do the downpipe, I run full decat now, its amazin'! :D:D:D

cheers,

Steve

yeah,I think your right.probably get a small increase in noise and that's about it
Still,it's gotta be done 'eh??
