Anyone else encountered this.
I've got two DELL servers which are running W2K. I've been getting inconsistant errors, along the lines of can't shut down etc... Seemed to have tracked it down to the 3COM 3C980c-TXM net cards. It seems that the Dynamic access software is causing a kernel memory leak. Option 1) replace the cards with something else. Option 2) Remove the Dynamic access miniport. Option 2 however does not want to happen, it will NOT let me remove the miniport files! Arrrrrgh! |
You could replace the cards for less than £20

As good as NetGear FA-3xx NICs are, they ain't server class IMHO. Realtek = avoid like the plague.
An Intel 10/100 Server NIC will be around £50 or so. Save the pain and pull the 3Coms. [Edited by ChrisB - 1/14/2003 10:48:29 PM] |
