Anyone done this so as to make the low oil pressure light useful rather than to tell you your engine has already been damaged  I have enough gauges already and thought it would be good to make the dash light do something useful.

I had thought about it, but instead went for a 1-10 bar oil pressure transducer, this combined with a pectel ecu can be set up so that if pressure drops to say 2.5 bar whilst engine revs indicate fuel pressure should be higher, it backs off the throttle.

I obtained a 35psi switch from Roger Clark Motorsport and this was a direct replacement for the O/E. In summer when really hot depending on the oil in use the warning light can glimmer.
Subsequently I obtained a variable 30-60 psi switch but did not get round to fitting it and its position may need changing away from the alternator due to its size.
The car has a full set of SPA guages and the red flashing warning on the oil pressure guage is set at 80 psi. so I will get an alert to a problem in the cruise or when stood at idle.

john,

you have a boost gauge and a knocklink.why not get rid of the boost gauge and get an SPA double,I think they do a combined boost and oil pressure gauge.
