Are they steel or stainless steel, the eason i ask is that...even though i love the sound on MY99 Sport i want to change it for a standard exhaust....what about a 2nd hand price ?..thanks :)

naturbo2000 13 January 2003 05:19 PM

Stainless steel

Insurance is presumably the reason for the change - otherwise there are ways of quietening the sound for motorway driving (soundproofing under the carpets springs to mind)

I reckon you'd get 100 quid for it easily - depends on milage etc

Petrol-Head 13 January 2003 05:34 PM

Not getting rid of it insurance at all, it booms quite a bit through the empty boot, we like the sound...but we long for a quiet life...might see if i can swap it for a standard exhaust.
Thanks. ;)

You must be getting Old petrol Head.

I still love the sound of my exhaust at 36 and am considering a Firestorm for my new car !

LOL

:D:D:D:D:D:D

Gav 13 January 2003 06:10 PM

got a scoobysport zaust on my00 turbo. i love the sound it makes at tick over, but when you nail it the noise is fantastic. thought about a firestorm but i dont want to lose the sound the scoobysport makes. dont get rid m8, you'll regret it.

gav...

p.s- the decat downpipe may have something to do with it aswell...:D :D :D :D

I just put a Scoobysport decat centre and rear section on my MY00 UK Turbo. Sounds feckin' excellent. Do it... you won't regret it. (I'm just waiting for the old dears next door to complain, that's all! :D )

mista weava 13 January 2003 07:26 PM

i am enjoying the comments about the beautiful noise the s/sport zorst makes with decat and downpipe aswell as b/box.

this is because i have just got one s/hand and am itching for it to be fitted.:D

should have been done on saturday but no lift space? :(

tonight was an option, but friend who is fitting has ex-missus dilemas  !

Petrol Head,

I`ll swap you if you want, got a standard downpipe and centre section on mine with a pro-drive back box (stainless)

MoSizlak 13 January 2003 09:16 PM

Is the scoobysport 'zorst the loudest avaliable then? Also do you get any "overun pop". p.s. as a non scoob owner (yet) WTF does the MY00,99 etc. mean when you guys refer to your motors? (sorry if its obvious and I sound a bit thick)

MoSizlak 13 January 2003 09:17 PM

hold on......is it "Model Year 00,99 etc."???

Fatman 13 January 2003 09:24 PM

That's exactly what it means, Mo.

It's conventionally said that you won't get those over-run pops'n'bangs unless you've got a full decat system (not just centre). However, I could have sworn I heard a couple on mine (centre decat + backbox). Perhaps that's just wishful thinking...

MoSizlak 13 January 2003 09:26 PM

I'm going for full de-cat then. I used to love my old fiesta making that noise!

Fatman 13 January 2003 09:33 PM

I kinda assumed that from your other thread on "De-catting". I'd take the advice of professionals before you do a full de-cat. Call/mail one or more of Scoob modding firms (i.e. Scoobysport/TSL/etc.) for advice and opinions before you start. You've nothing to lose by taking good advice! :D ...as I've read here that some car don't necessarily take too well to a full decat.

MoSizlak 13 January 2003 09:39 PM

really? ah! you cant just wack a full system on and away you go then? thanks for telling us that. Its all research for when i actually get me motor. So whats safer then? just one of the cats?

Fatman 13 January 2003 09:47 PM

You'd need to ask one of the experts. I only have a 1/2-decat on my Scoob, and I'm really just reporting back what I've read here on Scoobynet. From memory it was the P1 and some of the STi's that perhaps require additional care (and remapping  ?) if you're going for a full decat.

naturbo2000 13 January 2003 09:58 PM

I get pops and bangs on over-run - I've only got a ScoobySport Back Box on a Sport.

And no it's not even close to the loudest available ;)

Fatman 13 January 2003 10:12 PM

...then maybe I wasn't imagining it?

NotoriousREV 13 January 2003 10:19 PM

Having just swapped out my Scoobysport downpipe for the standard one (for the MOT), the noise difference is astonishing. Now my car is quiet, boring and slow, roll on next weekend when I can re-fit the de-cat. I get the occasional pop from the catted pipe, but nowhere near as much as without.

MoSizlak 14 January 2003 08:38 PM

So someone please tell me what is the loudest????

chrisp 14 January 2003 08:47 PM

Some of the Japanese system are really loud but if you fit a really loud system be prepared to get stopped by the police (frequently). A loud system can ruin the pleasure of driving a car and with the noise comes droning at motorway speed, so be very careful which exhaust you fit esp the back box.

I run a standard downpipe a TSL decat centre and scoobysport back box and I think it sounds just about perfect, but then agian mine has no sound proofing either, so i get that full decat roar without the MOT hassles :D. Not been stopped by the cops but been followed a few times, PCN checks I guess.

chrisp 14 January 2003 08:50 PM

Oh mine has popped a few times. The best ones were the pre 99 phase 1 cars as they seriously overfuelled at high revs. Lift off at high revs on a full decatted exhaust on an MY97/MY98 and its popped and banged all day long.

scoobyexhausts 15 January 2003 05:01 PM

As you all know we made the orginal scoobysport exhaust we can make it as quiet or as loud as you like on any model subaru

davy1 15 January 2003 05:18 PM

Have Magnex De-Cat centre and afterburner back box on MY00.Damm Loud, but what a soundhttp://64.207.13.28/mysmilies/ups/ka...lie_switch.gif

MoSizlak 15 January 2003 08:51 PM

scoobysport it is then!!!

PELHAM 15 January 2003 09:05 PM

I am at present running a standard STI7 type UK and I'm thinking about a S/Sport backbox and centre section. Apart from the great sound, does anyone know the approx power gains? Will I notice any difference in performance etc.

If I opt for the PPP as well would I gain over the Prodrive supplied BB?
