Yep, When I want to check my Egg account I get the "page cannot be displayed" message.

harj 24 January 2001 12:40 AM

I was one of the original Business Managers for Egg and it was decided that Flood control would be "Page Cannot be Displayed" when too many people are applying.

Give it some time and it will be up again.

I only received mine at the start of the month, but all is well so far.

Did try to access the site this morning without any luck.

Egg are offering 0% finance on their credit card for 6 months on new purchases and balance transfers so I thought I would apply for one.

Trouble is this is impossible as when you visit

robski 24 January 2001 01:01 PM

Im an existing customer, it can be slow at times, best to retry every 30 mins or so.

I also found that you only want to have 1 window when using these "secure" web type sites. For some reason, they seem much slower if you have more than 1 window open. Dont ask me why tho.

ps - Must remember to turn flood control off http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/tongue.gif

Doc 24 January 2001 01:53 PM

Took me 2.5 hours to get through the application last night!!

Colleague took 10 minutes this morning.

The evenings are obviously their busy time.

I recently cancelled my egg card due to lousy customer service. When I changed address and updated their system, it didn't filter through, so post kept going to my old address. When I phoned up to tell them, I never got through, despite multiple attempts, and once was kept on hold for around 45 minutes. One of my contractor friends who used to work for the Pru has said that underneath their glossy front end, a lot of the processes are still laughable, e.g. printouts from one system, manually carried over and typed into another http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Paulie 24 January 2001 02:02 PM

How's this for inside info... I'm doing consultancy for them right now (not on egg card - don't flame me)...

They're currently having some server problems at the moment, so access is a pain...

I'll post an update when I know more...

GCollier - in my experience, they're no different to other banks... smoke and mirrors is a big part of any internet/financial operation... (dons pipe and cloak) some things'd make yer hair curl...

After trying for the last 24 hours I still can't get to the application screen without a "The page cannot be displayed" error. What an absolute crappy company do they not want anybodys business?? They are a company that are solely web based but their website doesn't work!! How f***ing stupid is that??.Seems I am not alone in this as they are being constantly slagged off on the Egg discussion board on

Bajie 25 January 2001 02:54 PM

I want to reduce the amount I send to them each month and find out about their mortgages.
But I can't ...
Maybe I'll try at 2am http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

robski 25 January 2001 03:38 PM
