Just as I was sitting down today, I miscalculated the distance to the chair. I went down with a thump and something in my neck went 'click'.

I have been in a lot of pain all day, any suggestions? I been doing the Ibuprofen and deep heat thing, but it still hurts like hell!

Is moving about gonna do more harm than good?

I actually got whiplash when I was go-karting at Buckmore Park. I went backwards into a tyre doing about 40mph!

I didn't do anything about it, except for the deep heat and pain killers.

About month later I found I could crack my neck!!

About 2 years after the accident I went to a chiropractor, and I've been going regularly for over a year now!! That said, I also had a bad back from rugby, and dodgy knees from Karate. Other than that, I'm fine!!! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

On a serious note, get it checked out NOW

If it starts to play up in the future, I would suggest you see a chiropractor. When choosing one, go by word of mouth recommendation, and not the cheapest!!!

Go to A&E and try not to turn your neck before it is checked.

Could be muscular but I would suggest a defo vistit to a specialist as a matter of urgency!

Hopefully its just been jarred.

Hope your better soon Cem.

I didn't mean to scare you - but definitely go immediately and have it checked out.

Better safe than sorry.

I have heard of people who have broken their necks and not realised - hence not bothered to go to the hospital thinking it was just a sore neck.

It's probably not something like this but when your safety is concerned it is better to err on the side of caution.

I am not a doctor, but I think a visit to the nearest A & E department might be a good idea. I hope it does not turn out to be serious.

Thanks for the advice guys. I havent had it checked yet (I know, I know) but I am planning on visiting the physio on Friday, see what he says.

Still mighty painful.

See a doctor before you see a physio.

You may need an x-ray to definitely say what the problem is.

Physios are good once you know what the problem is, but you need a doctor to make the diagnosis.

I have heard of physios who have started working on necks when they shouldn't have and ended up paralysing the patient.

Go see a doctor!!!

A good chiropractor will take x-rays of the problem areas, and associated injuroes before doing any treatment!!

At least mine did!!

A good chiropractor will, but a physio may not.

Dowblog,
Did you get it checked? Do we need to start looking for a new muppet moderator yet?

sgould 23 January 2001 02:17 PM

I was told that deep heat is bad, but hot baths are good for muscle injury.

Xray it first.

Physio can do more damage than good if they dont know what they are doing.

Especialy if you have broken your neck !!
