Update. I bought a chipeed second hand xbox but it had problem, but im able to get my money back so im buying a brand new one now.

Im thinking of buying a Xecuter2 chip for my Xbox then chipping it myself. Has any1 chipped threir xbox?
What to know:
1, Is it Hard?
2, Do you get instructions to do it?
3, I think you need to flash the bios. true or false?
4, How do i flash the bios myself?
5, Is Xecuter2 the best chip

DJ Dunk 30 December 2002 08:31 PM

Yep, myself & Druddle amoungst others have done this :)

Personally, I have the Matrix/Xodus chip.

1) Nope, easy to install no soldering :)
2) Yes, full PDF installation instructions.
3) Yes, its illegal to sell chips with software already on them.
4) It comes with a programmer that fits your LPT/Parallel port. WinLPC software is needed, available from the website.
5) IMO, no. Matrix rocks :)

Druddle has the Xecutor so can give you his slant on the comparison.

If you need any more info, feel free to mail me.

DJ

LOL. I was hoping you will reply to this post. thats from reading the other post. not bcuz i love you:D:D. but thank you for the info its really helpful.

Whats the diffrenece between the two chips?

DJ Dunk 30 December 2002 08:55 PM

LOL :D

The X-Ecutor2 and Matrix chips are what they call Generation3b chips. In that they are both flashable, you can upgrade the bios on them.

They are similar, depends what you want from it really.

Essentially . . .
X-Ecutor can have multi-bios, but requires soldering.
Matrix requires no soldering.
Both support V1.0 and V1.1 X-Boxes.
Both are flash-upgradable.
Xecutor2 Lite is currently available but does not support LPC flashing. Xecutor2 Pro is due soon, and does ;)

A good comparison is here :)

So, the question is, can you solder ? ;)

In fact, you can use the EvoX bios (most popular) on both chips, so it all comes down to ease of installation for me.

Feel likes my head gonna explode, been reading to much info on these chips and its not helping anymore. LOL
I havent done any soldering since i was a kid but i was good at it then :D
So the debate looks like it gonna be between the Matrix or the Xcuter2 Pro.

Whats LPC? All this work looks hard, so it also depends how much poeple charge to do this around Birmingham

LPC stands for Low Parts Count LPC programmer. It is a programming cable connected between a PC parallel port and a PCB containing a LPC flash SST49LF020.

Bascially, it means you can plug it into your PC :D

get a X-ecuter2 Lite or X-ecuter2 Pro.

druddle 31 December 2002 09:01 AM

Hi Ray

Yes i have an X-Ecuter v1.1 chip, thats different to the v2 Lite and Pro that are available now.

It has one wire to solder and if you use a pin header then its easy to sit the chip on the solder points it needs to go on. You get all the parts if you order from the Bald Bouncer.

I didnt do the install for mine, a friend did (far better at soldering than me - bigger the blob, better the job ;) :D ) but it didnt look too bad.

He has since fitted an X-Ecuter 2 Lite and said its even easier, but you still have 1 wire to solder and also you can fit an optional switch to turn the chip on or off (useful for Xbox Live).
