Who's make of speakers / X-Overs are they?

I hidden my infinity(605's) x-overs behind the door panels to the left (drivers side),right (passenger side) of the main speaker, they JUST fit in this space use a good double sided tape to secure the x-over to the moisture barrier before re-fitting the door panel.

I did thesame with the xovers for my focals; just drilled a couple of holes into the door frame (on the inside part!!!) and mounted them in the space between the speaker mount and the edge of the door and put a bit of soundeadening inbetween to cushion it a bit.

I made a nice little install in my last car and put them in the boot with them showing behind perspex along with my Eq, amps etc.

I know thats no help to you as you want places to hide them in the door but it was just worth saying that why hide them in your doors?

I would recommend putting them inside the car somewhere because I ruined mine (Infinity 605cs) when they were inside the doors as they got soaked :(

I know its a bit more hassle as you have to route speaker cables from the doors to the inside of the car but worth it IMHO

Gavin :)

I put my RF x-overs behind the doors with no probs before, but I did put them in a sealy bag so they couldnt get moisture in there, or alternatively put them under the dash somewhere, theres loads of room.

I've got my Infinity crossovers inside the doors, but I may move them into the car as they rattle :(. To get them to fit, I have to dismantle the case and wrap it in tape.

Gareth.

Gareth60,

Easy way to stop them rattling is cut a small section of Accoustic Carpet or similar, then tape it across the x-over unit then it'll stop the rattling :)

Here's how I fitted mine....

Done about 6000 miles since putting them in, and they still work fine, no rattles, and everything is still nice and dry (because they are on the interior side of the plastic sheet).

Iain,

How did you get the door panel on again?

Iain Young 30 December 2002 11:29 PM

Erm, the same way it came off, only in reverse ;)

There is a big bit that sticks out towards the rear of the door panel, and that's where the crossover sits (if memory serves, it's the moulding for the arm rest I think). The panel just fits nicely over the top, and the crossover resides inside this.

To make things clearer...

Note this might not be the same for all Imprezas however, (you don't say what model you have). Mine is an 02 UK Sti....

Cheers,
Iain

Iain,

Yer, mine is a MY02 Sti also. You know, i've had the door panel off at least 3 times and i've never noticed that gap :):). Perhaps I will relocate them as it is a bit tight where I've got them currently :)

Thanks
Gareth.
