Ok its a bit of a boring topic i know but I'm just wondering what sort of tyres you have on your cars.

I have Pirelli p700 z's on mine (they came as standard with the car)

Someone recently suggested that i should have michelins fitted because it is a softer tyre which would be easier on the hard suspension.

Do you have any recommendations?

Well, when I had my 106 GTi I soon discovered that the standard Pirelli's are Sh!t... really sh!t and you won't beleive what a difference new tyres make!

However, I am not a big fan of Michelin's in the wet either...

Best tyres I had on mine were some cheapo Firestone's that came fitted to the car when I bought it. They are dirt cheap and handle great in both the wet and the dry.

In my hot hatch years i went through a few tyres including,
Yoko A520 - Excellent in the dry, crap in the wet.
Yoko A510 - Better all round than the A520.
Pirelli P2000 - Not bad all rounder, but nowt to sing about.
Falken ZE502 - I cannot talk highly enough about these tyres. High level of grip in the wet, better than A520's in the dry. They are not all that soft so you get plenty of milage out of them. To top it all they are cheap as chips.:) I was tempted to put them on my Scoob, but the Toyo's looked too sexy.

Running Goodyear Eagle F1s on our Pug 106 Rallye...they seem pretty grippy :) but we have upgraded the wheel size to 15" with Compomotive MOs for that rally slag look.

I had a set of the Falken ZE502's on my 106 GTi with my 15" rims (195/45's) and they were "ok" in the wet, but nothing outstanding. Dry weather they were great though and I did do a track day on them, which they lasted well on, so they are a decenmt tyre IMO.

However, those cheapo Firestone's I had when I first got the car (185/55 14's) were better in the wet then the Falken's and soooo damn cheap to buy.

Got Bridgestone SO2's on my 306 Rallye now and they are absolutely superb, in all conditions and I'll be sticking with them when I need to get some more.

Agree with you totally Rich D the pirellis are awful I'm definately gonna change them, I'm a bit gutted actually coz ATS had some Firestones in and they were alot cheaper but i demanded pirellis because they were on the car originally.

Yup, the standard Pirelli's are cr@p even in the dry, but they're awful in the wet. :(

Mine had a new(ish) pair of Firestone's fitted on the front when I bought the thing and after about a year when I needed to replace them, I foolishly got a pair of the P700z's as I thought they'd be good if Peugeot fitted them as standard.

How wrong I was...

They were only on the car for about a month, before I got them taken off, due to them being so sh!te.

For a direct replacement like-for-like tyre (185/55 14's) then those Firestone's are a LOT better than the Pirelli's and can be got for about £40 each, so also a lot cheaper. ;)
