Need some help please.
Last night car started becoming hesitant under normal driving, then would clear then would come back.It then decided to cut out totally and coasted to a halt. The car now starts but is idling roughly at about 400 rpm and wont rev any higher and just cuts out.
Any ideas?

It's a my99 uk,no mods.
p.s , although the check engine light hasn't came on,i checked for fault codes, and it's showing code 32 (oxygen sensor),i didn't think an oxygen sensor fault would cause anything as serious as the above conditions.Any ideas before i get it carted off to the dealers would be appreciated.

sounds like the MAF or similar sensor problem...

Definately sounds like MAF. Your oxygen sensor code is most likely to be a reaction to this fault rather than the cause.

Thanks for the replies guys.Found out what it was!

Sticking fuel guage was giving false reading of half tank when in fact it was empty, all sorted now, couldn't believe it was something so silly.
