Noticed another dipstick on my STi5 RA today, when going round checking levels etc.
Its just under the intercooler, next to turbo. Bent with a little ring at top to pull it out.
There wasnt any fluid at even the 'L' indicator!!
Some fluid had come off the side of the 'tube' as I pulled it out though. Light in colour, quite a peanutty smell to it.
Is this gearbox oil?
Sorry if Im sounding thick here but hey...!
I take it this is probably quite important! so where and with what do I top it up with?

Any help / ammo to shout at the dealer I bought it from last week would be most appreciated!

Cheers

Yes, it is the dipstick for the gearbox/front diif oil!

If there is nothing above the "L" then get it checked ASAP

Sheeite!

That would probably explain my crunchy / notchy gears then!

I'll get on the phone to the dealers tommorrow!

Cheers mate...

Well, I checked the level again this morning when the car was cold, and there DOES seem to be some oil in there after all! (phew)
A tad under the 'F' indicator but at least theres something in it.

It definately has the odd crunchy gear, hunting revs on change up and transmission whine though, so I phoned the dealer I bought it off and its going back in to them on the 30th for, in his words 'them to inspect the gearbox' and another couple of things that need sorting...
I get the feeling he doesnt believe me though!
Got the old line, 'well it was fine when I sold it to you'!!

Whats the betting they tell me theres nowt wrong with it?
