I would hold on.

Creative have just launched a version about the size of a CD player that has a hard disk in it. Massive amounts of storage.
Cant remember which one, but one of these two sites did a review of it about 3-4 weeks ago:

My local computer fair was selling Diamond RIO 500 64 Mb RAM for £120 I think. Looked like a good deal.

I think the prices will drop big time once someone else enters the market to compete.
It uses laptop type hard disk (from memory) which is much much much cheaper than solid state memory that the normal MP3 players use.

Just look how much you have to fork out for a memory upgrade for one of them.

If you bro just wants upto 1 hr of music then a normal MP3 is fine, but if hes going to want to use it for periods of time, or not want to listen to the same songs over and over, then wait would be my call.

Cheers Robski,

Kind of came to the same conclusion when talking to him, 1 hr is not really anyuse, and then the upgrades kill you.

So 3 options

1. Wait
2. Buy the Creative
3. Get a Mini Disc player recorder, then I've come across this £50 accessory:

The Sharp Voquette is the first Internet to Mini Disc recorder to hit the market. This ingenious product enables Mini Disc owners to download and record amonst other things, MP3 files, Real Audio, Emails, Word Documents, and web pages onto Mini Disc, a facility not available on Internet audio players.

Greg,

Not relevant to your requirements, but I'm building an MP3 player in-car...
