Had a look at one of these today in a used car showroom and it was at a reasonable price. The car I saw is putting out 280BHP so I guess it's had a few mods (I didnt want to look to close and seem too interested yet). Any thoughts on this model?

Thanks, will do. Sometimes, though, I find the comments on this forum a little less biased than asking on 'their own' forum.

Edited due to mis-reading the Evo number, sorry. ;)

Try the Lancer register site as suggested above. There's a very good buying guide that should point you in the right direction.

I have driven the evo 1 and 3 models and although they have a bit of power they are very under-geared :( That wouldn't be too much of a problem you may think but the gear change is fecking awful and when you have to keep doing it it's a pain in the ar5e :( The handling wasn't great either  I am not a big fan of the early evos after driving these two  Give me an evo 4 though and I would be laughing (although I haven't driven one )

Roojai,

I have had an Evo II and now have an Evo V. The II was standard and the V was standard when I bought it.

There is hardly any noticeable difference in performance between the two. The II is 256bhp standard anyway.

Depends on what you call a good price. I sold my II for £7k around 18 months ago with just 45k miles on the clock. For the money though, you can't beat it... Go for it, you will not regret it. :)
