Any tips on an exhaust upgrade that will up the power/torque without making the neighbours hate me? Got a budget of 500ish.

I have just fitted the very first JW racing system to our car (even Jamie doesn't have one yet:D)

Have a look at j w racings web site for more info.

It's within your budget, is really beautifully made (by Magnex) and sounds lovely ~ not too loud, not too quiet:D

If you don't mind it rusting after a couple of years, just go for a system made from mild steel rather than stainless.
Or ditch the catted centre, leave the DP as-is & get a Remus BB (suprisingly cheap too).
Or do that & then get a (very expensive!) catted free-flow DP - the cat reduces noise levels, the 'free-flow' bit loosens up the restrictions about as much as a catted system can, and it's legal as well!
