4.44 final drive.

Rebuilt by scoobysports' gearbox man about 5000 miles ago with new synchro rings etc. Have receipt for that!

No trasnfer case (inc. centre diff) or extension.

Integral 22B front diff which is a viscous coupled LSD.

Can be used with a UK car but you would need to purchase a 4.44 final drive rear diff and 1:1 transfer case which can be bought easily from places such as Townend garage.

Will go straight on to any 4.44 final drive jap car.

With 8000 rpm limit will do 160ish mph in top if you are so inclined. ie. 19.8mph/1000 rpm fifth.

Will just about reach 60 in second.

£800

Townend are selling normal uk gearboxes for £500 plus vat on an exchange basis which do not have the sti gears or the limited slip front diff.

Has been used with redline hi shock oil and shows no signs of anything untoward.

Replaced as I am not going to put the amount of torque I plan on through a standard gearbox.

Am based in london, and gearbox is already off the car, mail as per profile.

fcuk you asshoelle!

hrubago 13 December 2002 08:07 AM

Is the Sti 3 wagon 4,44 ? I think not .. :-(

hrubago 13 December 2002 08:09 AM

And specs. front LSD (preload, etc.)(came from STi?) Is it 12 or 20 kg.m....?

RebelINS 14 December 2002 05:30 AM

I think the STi v.3 wagon gearbox is the same as the saloons, which has a final drive of 4.444:1, so it should work with a wagon.

OK. Thanks. Differentials are the same but the gearing in gerbox are different (Type R is lettle bit shortened). But need answer about LSD specifications.

David_Wallis 14 December 2002 05:27 PM

top..

Adam M 15 December 2002 02:46 AM

hrubago,

the lsd is the one between the front wheels, not the centre diff which is normally rated 12 or 20. There is no centre diff with this gearbox as i am still using it.

hrubago 15 December 2002 09:41 PM

Yes I red carefully but front diff has also spec. similar to central viscous coupling. Sti offers two types. You can have ZF or something. Where you bought front LSD?

Adam M 16 December 2002 01:40 AM

I didnt buy it.

the gearbox is from my 22b which comes standard with the viscous front lsd.

No idea of its spec.

hrubago 16 December 2002 07:42 AM

Searched 22b sites and havent seen infos about front LSD in 22B as standard equipment :-(

Adam M 16 December 2002 10:23 AM

Very odd, since front diff is definitely lsd.

when off the ground, wheels do not spin in opposite directions when in gear.

plus am certain they were standard spec, in the same way they were an option on later type rs.

Wonder who wrote the spec you have looked up.

Do they also note the closed deck block and the seem welded chassis, plus give details of R180 clutch type rear diff? normally they arent that well researched.
